Job Advertisement: Cultural Developers Focused on Swedish-Finnish and Finnish Culture

We are looking for two part-time cultural developers (50%), one with administrative responsibility and one with production responsibility. The positions are one-year temporary contracts starting on March 16, 2026, with the possibility of extension. If you believe you meet the requirements for both positions, there is no obstacle to applying for both, which would correspond to a full-time position (100%).

The cultural activities in Eskilstuna are broad and diverse. The goal is to provide opportunities for everyone to create, express themselves in various forms, and participate in professionally created culture. Eskilstuna Municipality is part of the Finnish administrative area and therefore has special obligations to offer residents services, culture, elderly care, and preschool in Finnish.

The positions are within the unit Scener och evenemang, which is one of five units in the cultural area of the Culture and Leisure Administration. Scener och evenemang is responsible for the city's venues, including Lokomotivet, Eskilstuna Theater, and Fristadstorget, and has the mission to ensure that everyone in the municipality can access and participate in culture by creating collaborations, improving conditions, and producing culture.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The main purpose of both assignments is to make visible and develop Swedish-Finnish and Finnish culture in the municipality.

As a cultural developer with production responsibility, you will be responsible for producing events in Finnish or with Finnish characteristics. You will be responsible for short- and long-term planning of events, participate in collaboration meetings with a cultural theme with representatives from the Swedish-Finnish minority, and be responsible for contacts with partners within the Finnish community, regionally, nationally, and bilaterally.

In this role, you will also help produce other events that the Scener och evenemang unit is responsible for, such as Kulturnatten, Kulturfesten, and National Day.

As a cultural developer with administrative responsibility, you will be responsible for contact and collaboration with coordinators for national minorities at the municipal executive office. The assignment includes participation in minority council meetings and consultation meetings with the Swedish-Finnish minority. You will also be responsible for planning and implementing two annual collaboration meetings with a cultural theme together with representatives of the Swedish-Finnish minority.

You will ensure that the work reaches Finnish-speaking youth and be responsible for processing grants for Finnish events. You will share budget responsibility with the other cultural developer. Together, you will be responsible for applying for and reporting state grants. You will also produce and publish regular posts on social media.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone with an academic degree (180 credits) focused on culture or equivalent experience. You should have work experience as a producer. We want you to have experience and a good ability to communicate, anchor, and market both orally and in writing in Finnish and Swedish. Good knowledge of the Finnish cultural area both locally, regionally, and nationally, as well as knowledge of finance, budgeting, and contracts are required for the position. It is an advantage if you have experience working in a politically governed organization and from the association sector.

To thrive in the role, you need a desire to develop and drive the work forward, be good at making new contacts, maintaining good relationships, being attentive, and seeing people's needs. You need to be a good administrator and enjoy writing and speaking in public, and have an interest in Finnish and Swedish-Finnish culture.

OTHER

The mission of the Culture and Leisure Administration is to create conditions for good living conditions for all residents and visitors of Eskilstuna by offering a wide range of cultural offerings and opportunities for stimulating leisure activities. We are responsible for the municipality's cultural school, libraries, meeting places, archives, museums, youth centers, association support, and venues for culture, sports, and outdoor activities.

The administration has an administrative office and three units: the arena and outdoor activities area, the youth leisure and meeting places area, and the culture area.
