About us

Sörmland Museum is a regional museum in Nyköping with operations throughout Sörmland and at the popular destination Nynäs Castle. With cultural history, crafts, visual arts, and design, the museum aims to help people influence society and their life situation. Nynäs Castle provides a work environment that combines a well-preserved cultural heritage with one of the county's largest nature reserves. Sörmland Museum is part of Region Sörmland.

Your tasks

  • Monitor and communicate the collection of objects at Nynäs belonging to the National Museum.
  • In collaboration with the rest of the museum, the National Museum, and other activities, prepare and implement the opening of Nynäs Castle, exhibitions, and shop, as well as seasonal tours and programs.
  • Collaborate with regional operations Sörmland Nature Management and Property Services to manage and develop Nynäs as a destination.
  • In collaboration with museum staff and the National Museum, maintain and develop routines for safety and collection management.
  • In collaboration with property managers at Nynäs, ensure that the climate in the castle secures the collections.
  • Participate in the museum's work on knowledge building and communication.
  • Participate in the recruitment of guides and hosts for tours and the opening of exhibitions and shop during the open season.
  • Participate in communication and marketing efforts.

Your competence

You are a structured person with good organizational skills. You work solution-oriented, carefully, and analytically, and you easily adapt to changing conditions. You are used to handling a high pace and prioritizing tasks to meet established deadlines. You have a good ability to work independently while enjoying working together with colleagues towards common goals. Your communication style is clear and attentive, and you are comfortable expressing yourself both in writing and verbally in a professional manner, in both Swedish and English. During recruitment, great emphasis will be placed on your personal qualities and your ability to build trust and collaborate in a dynamic work environment.

Requirements

  • Academic degree in a relevant field, such as cultural studies, history, art history, or other education deemed equivalent by the employer.
  • Good knowledge of and experience with museum collections.
  • Experience and familiarity with planning and conducting tours, as well as receiving groups with varying prior knowledge.
  • Experience working with collection management systems.
  • Experience in project management and collaboration with various parties.
  • Fluent in both Swedish and English.
  • Willingness to work weekends and during the summer. A driver's license (B) is required.

Employment form

Permanent employment with start date according to agreement.
