Assistant Nurse/Caregiver for Psychiatry Operations, Kungälv Hospital, Summer 2026

The Hospitals in the West is an administration within the Västra Götaland Region and consists of four hospitals – Alingsås Hospital, Angered Local Hospital, Högsbo Local Hospital, and Kungälv Hospital. Description

The Psychiatry Operations at Kungälv Hospital consists of inpatient care units, a psychiatric emergency department, psychiatric outpatient clinics, child psychiatry clinics, and specialized clinics for patients with eating disorders and emotional instability. Ward 9 is an inpatient unit focused on psychosis and general psychiatry, where individuals with eating disorders are also treated. The unit has 12 beds and two beds for user-controlled admissions. Ward 10 is an inpatient unit focused on addiction and general psychiatry, with 12 beds.

We are looking for someone who wants to work with inpatient care and is also interested in working with the described target group. We are committed to continuously developing and evaluating psychiatric care and would like you to be interested in participating in ongoing improvement work.

Responsibilities

As a caregiver, you are responsible for psychiatric nursing. The patient's care plan is the guiding document, and the patient should be involved in its creation. The care plan is then continuously evaluated throughout the patient's stay. We work with shared decision-making, and the care is person-centered. Patients and relatives should be involved in the care. We also have a responsibility to provide support and information to minor children as well as to support patients in their parental role. The team around the patient includes not only nurses but also caregivers and doctors.

The Psychiatry Operations at Kungälv Hospital is seeking assistant nurses and caregivers for the summer of 2026 within psychiatry, wards 9 and 10, and the psychiatric emergency department. We offer a fun, stimulating, responsible, and exciting job where you will have the opportunity to develop your skills together with new colleagues. During weeks 26–33, ward 10 will close and merge with ward 9, increasing the number of beds in ward 9 to 20 + 2 user-controlled beds.

Qualifications

You are a trained assistant nurse/caregiver.

If you are a student in the nursing program, you need to have completed semester 3 or semester 4, depending on your program.

If you are a student in the medical program, you need to have completed semester 5 or semester 6, depending on your program.

Before employment in the Psychiatry Operations, we require a background check from the criminal record register.
