The role of resident physician involves varied and rewarding tasks, which means you will work with children and adolescents from neonatal care to the transition to adult care. You will engage in outpatient and inpatient work, emergency duties in the emergency department, and assist the county's smallest residents and their families in childbirth, maternity, and the neonatal unit. We offer a secure backup support, study time, fun colleagues, and dedicated time for supervision and introduction with your mentor. The content and scope of your residency will be planned in consultation with you, the department head, and your supervisor in accordance with the goal description based on the National Board of Health and Welfare's regulations.

About you

We are looking for a physician with a Swedish medical license who has completed their foundation training (AT) or basic training (BT). We seek someone who has the desire and interest to educate themselves in the specialty of pediatrics. As a person, you are self-sufficient, calm, and stable with good collaborative skills and sound judgment. You need to have good knowledge of the Swedish language in both spoken and written form.

You will work in a multidisciplinary team, so it is important for us that you come with drive, commitment, and a willingness to develop with us. You are a team player and contribute to creating a good team that works towards common goals. You are flexible and efficient when the job requires it, while also having a humble and caring approach towards the people you meet. No prior knowledge in pediatrics is required but is advantageous.

The children's clinic has an open climate, and we are proud to offer high-quality care to our patients. The mission of the pediatric clinic is to receive children aged 0-18 years. The clinic specializes in somatic care, which includes medical investigation, treatment, and nursing. The mission encompasses the full range of pediatric medical issues as well as inpatient care in surgery, orthopedics, dermatology, ophthalmology, and otolaryngology, and in some cases, child and adolescent psychiatry. The clinic consists of outpatient services, both in Västervik and Oskarshamn, and an inpatient ward. The ward has 12 beds divided into seven general beds and five neonatal beds. There is also day care and play therapy. Our goal is to always maintain high medical quality combined with good care.
