The Role of the Nurse

The oncology clinic at Ryhov County Hospital in Jönköping is looking for summer substitute licensed nurses for the care unit and day care unit.

• In the care unit, there are currently 21 available care places. As a nurse, you will work alternately with oncology patients and with patients receiving palliative care. You will be part of a team consisting of doctors, nurses, and nursing assistants who work based on a person-centered approach. As a nurse, you, together with a nursing assistant, will have the nursing responsibility for a group of patients. Since we provide care around the clock, working hours can be scheduled during the day, evening, night, and weekends.
• In the day care unit, an average of about 50 patients with various types of cancer diagnoses are treated each day. As a nurse, your role is to be the contact nurse. You are responsible for planning and administering the patient's anti-tumor treatment. The unit has specialist nurses in oncology and oncologists who assist and support you in your work. Working hours are during the day on weekdays.

The summer jobs are temporary full-time positions. We need summer substitute nurses for weeks 26-33. It is an advantage if you can work many of – or all – the weeks. A regional introduction takes place in addition to these weeks, and we appreciate if you can also be trained in the spring, preferably for at least four weeks. You will receive a salary during the introduction and training.

Your Future Workplace

The oncology clinic receives patients from all over Jönköping County with cancer diseases. The clinic works with non-surgical treatment of solid tumors. Follow-up and care of patients with treatment-related side effects, patients who need to be hospitalized during treatment, and palliative patients (regardless of diagnosis) are also part of the clinic's activities. Each year, we treat approximately 2,200 patients with a total of about 22,000 treatments.

Our operations are located in newly built and modern premises. About 190 employees work with us. The clinic consists of a care department, outpatient clinic, day care unit, radiation therapy, hospital physics department, clinical trial unit, and oncogenetic outpatient clinic.

Your Profile

We are looking for you who are a licensed nurse or who will graduate as a nurse no later than June 2025.

You are a person who works well with others and is engaged in the personal meeting with the patient. Since we work based on a person-centered approach, you need to have the ability to see and take advantage of the healthy aspects of the patient. You organize your work efficiently and are meticulous. Great importance is placed on personal suitability.
