The Västra Gästrikland Community Building Committee has a joint administration for the municipalities of Hofors, Ockelbo, and Sandviken. Sandviken is the host municipality, meaning it is the seat of the committee and administration. The administration is tasked with handling authority issues within planning, construction, environment, and health.

JOB DESCRIPTION

We are looking for 1-2 building inspectors.

As a building inspector, you will be part of an enthusiastic team passionate about community building and development. In this role, you will work independently but in close collaboration with other employees.

With us, you will have the opportunity for varied tasks where you mix administrative work with field visits. The role includes daily contact with the municipalities' residents, contractors, consultants, and other authorities. You will work in a legally secure manner to provide citizens with high service and a professional response. As a building inspector, you will handle applications for building permits, notifications, and preliminary decisions, supervision according to the Planning and Building Act, as well as processing of shoreline protection matters according to the Environmental Code. The tasks also include technical reviews with consultations and site visits, as well as work on development and digitalization issues within the service's and administration's areas of responsibility.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone interested in community building in a broad sense, as our field of work spans a wide variety of tasks. You should have education as a building permit administrator/building inspector, engineer, or other education or experience that the employer deems equivalent.

We also expect you to have knowledge of the Planning and Building Act and current regulations as well as the Environmental Code. You should be accustomed to working with digital tools and be interested in digitalization and business development.

Having technical construction competence or having worked as a building engineer or similar is considered an advantage. Experience from municipal decision-making processes and authority exercise is also advantageous.

You communicate clearly, simply, and effectively in Swedish, both spoken and written. You prioritize service and adapt your behavior to create customer satisfaction. You can handle complex situations independently, efficiently, and calmly. You see the bigger picture and take into account the broader perspective, considering the best interests of the entire organization in your actions and decisions.

You are used to taking responsibility and driving your cases forward, and you have good administrative skills to plan and structure your work effectively, setting and adhering to deadlines. You enjoy working in a team and have a receptive attitude. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability, such as good collaboration and organizational skills, flexibility, and responsibility.

A valid driver's license (B) is required. Start date according to agreement.
