Workplace Description

Language Center is a unit within the department for support around learning and student health. Language Center offers mother tongue instruction and study guidance in the mother tongue in about 70 different languages for students in Stockholm's municipal schools. We currently have about 400 employees.

The mission of Language Center aims to maintain and develop children's and youth's multilingualism and contribute to increased goal fulfillment for students with a mother tongue other than Swedish. As a teacher at Language Center, you will be mobile and work at several schools in the municipality.

Job Responsibilities

The position, lasting about a month, consists of mother tongue instruction and study guidance in the mother tongue for students in Stockholm's schools. It also includes teaching in modern languages. The teaching primarily takes place in grades F-9 of primary school, but it is desirable to also be able to teach at the secondary level. You will collaborate with colleagues and have teaching assignments at several schools.

Qualifications

We see mother tongue instruction, study guidance, and teaching in modern languages as a very important part of the student's language development and goal fulfillment. Language-developing approaches in all subjects are therefore highly prioritized. We expect you to have a holistic view of students' learning and be curious about developing your profession with us. You have:

  • Teacher education with qualification in the relevant language
  • Experience as a teacher in mother tongue, study guidance, and modern languages
  • Current teaching language as a mother tongue
  • Good knowledge of Swedish in both spoken and written form
  • Good computer skills

Meritorious:

  • Current experience of teaching at Language Center in the City of Stockholm
