Upplands Väsby Library is seeking an engaged IT guide for our library activities in Messingen and Culture in Sigma.

About us

Upplands Väsby Library occupies a prominent place in the municipality's cultural life. The main library is housed in the multifunctional building Messingen, centrally located by Upplands Väsby station with good connections to Stockholm and Uppsala. In the same building, there is a culture school, stage, two high schools, conference rooms, lunch restaurant, and café. The library also operates a highly appreciated book bus that visits the municipality's preschools. The library has a unit in Sigma center, "Culture in Sigma". A total of 17 people work at the library. Our new library plan has four focus areas: accessibility, libraries for children and youth, education and reading, and social sustainability.

About the position

As an IT guide at the library, you create opportunities for self-help for our visitors. You build relationships and remove barriers so that our visitors dare to try IT. At the same time, you have the ability to distinguish between personal and professional in your interactions with visitors. Your tasks include supporting library visitors with:

• Printing, scanning, forgotten passwords
• Email management
• Settings on mobile, tablet, computer, or apps/programs
• File management
• Searching for relevant information on the internet
• Introduction to various digital public services

Additionally, we would like you to take the initiative for:

• Collaboration internally and externally with others working on similar tasks.
• Development so that the service reaches more people and leaves long-term impressions on our visitors' self-esteem and ability to solve IT situations.

Are you the one we are looking for?

We are looking for someone who has:

• Post-secondary education in social work, IT, pedagogy, or another area deemed relevant by the employer, or documented work experience in similar tasks.
• Good digital competence.
• Good ability to speak and write in Swedish and English.
• Good ability to explain things in a simple and pedagogical way.

It is an advantage if you have:

• Good knowledge of Swedish society and various authorities' areas of responsibility.
• Experience in meeting and guiding individuals in a professional role, for example in a labor market initiative.
• Experience working with individuals in vulnerable life situations.
• Verbal skills in languages other than Swedish and English.
