Your New Job

The Environmental and Health Protection Office develops society and has a broad mandate including strategic planning, permits, and supervision. We dare to think outside the box and offer a workplace with creative and enjoyable discussions, where we support each other and focus on solutions. The Environmental and Health Protection Administration is a local supervisory authority for activities covered by the Environmental Code, the Food Act, and other laws. About 50 employees work at the Environmental and Health Protection Administration, divided into four units: environmental protection, health protection, food safety, and administration. Within the office and other administrations, there are good development opportunities.

We are looking for a manager for the Environmental Protection Unit. The unit is responsible for supervision under the Environmental Code and consists of 12 employees. We seek a confident and engaged leader who wants to coach and, with good structure, lead an experienced team with strong cohesion – supported by an accessible management group.

In the role of unit manager, you will plan, lead, and allocate work to achieve the unit's goals and contribute to a good environment in Jönköping Municipality. You will have personnel and operational responsibility for the unit. You will be part of the administration's management team, contributing to achieving common goals and development, as well as working with shared structures, consensus, and equity. A crucial part of the role is collaboration with various stakeholders both within Jönköping Municipality and with external parties. You will report to the administration director.

Your Competence

We are looking for someone who wants to take overall responsibility and contribute to an operation that makes a difference. You are a stable person who creates security in your leadership and has the ability to make well-founded decisions even when the situation is complex. You thrive on collaboration and build good relationships through an open and inclusive working style. Your communication skills enable you to express yourself clearly in Swedish, both verbally and in writing, which is crucial for creating understanding and engagement. You work in a structured manner and have the ability to plan and prioritize to create order and efficiency in the operation.

To succeed in this role, you have a relevant university degree in the environmental field or another education that we assess as equivalent for the position. You have experience working as a manager or in a supervisory role, and it is an advantage if you have good knowledge of the Environmental Code. We place great importance on personal suitability and see you as a person who combines a holistic view with the ability to inspire and lead others towards common goals. It is advantageous if you have experience in public authority exercise, training in management or leadership, and if you have worked in environmental protection supervision.
