Coordinator for the Environment and Strategy Unit
Do you want to help Swedish authorities tackle challenges related to weather, water, and climate and contribute to sustainable societal development? We are now looking for a coordinator for the Environment and Strategy Unit.
SMHI is a Swedish expert authority with a global perspective and a vital task of forecasting changes in weather, water, and climate. Based on scientific principles and through knowledge, research, and services, we contribute to increasing the sustainability of society as a whole. Every day, around the clock, year-round. SMHI strives to provide knowledge and decision support with the aim of maximizing societal benefit. Our target groups span a wide range, from the general public, urban planners, to decision-makers within various organizations.
The Environment and Strategy Unit is responsible for the department's grant-funded products and services, as well as externally funded assignments and projects. The unit currently consists of a group of eleven people with expertise in SMHI's areas of expertise: marine environment, hydrology, climate and climate adaptation, and communication.
About the Position
In the role of coordinator, you will act as a contact person for several different Swedish authorities. Much of the work involves receiving external inquiries/orders and ensuring that appropriate expertise within SMHI can carry out the assignments, but also proactively contacting authorities and describing how SMHI can assist with materials that facilitate the authorities' work in both the short and long term. As a coordinator, you will primarily be responsible for SMHI's offerings related to several Swedish authorities. The work includes developing a long-term direction for SMHI's offerings to the relevant authority and assessing the potential for new and expanded assignments. A natural part of the role is to work in networks and dialogue with experts both within the organization and with external actors.
As part of the coordination responsibility, you will:
- be responsible for monitoring the external environment and marketing SMHI's overall offerings to the relevant authority.
- consult with other internal contact points to assess SMHI's potential for assignments or collaboration with the relevant authority, as well as gather the current authority's needs for support or product development from SMHI and inform about this within SMHI.
- build awareness of all SMHI's capabilities to support the relevant authority.
- coordinate sales, establishment, and follow-up of SMHI's agreements with the relevant authority.
About You
We are looking for someone with a university degree in natural sciences, economics, or social sciences and many years of experience in the workforce. You also have a strong interest in climate, meteorology, hydrology, and oceanography.
For the position, it is required that you have:
- previous experience in a strategic role with market competence
- worked with environmental analysis, marketing plans, and marketing issues
- experience in working with contracts and agreements
It is an advantage if you have:
- experience in climate, oceanographic, or hydrological activities
- project management experience
- experience with budget responsibility
As a person, you are curious, engaged, and have an easy time making contacts and collaborating with others. An important prerequisite for success in the role is your ability to build and maintain relationships both internally and externally. You have strong communication skills, and collaboration and dialogue are natural parts of your working method. You are structured and used to leading, planning, organizing, and prioritizing work effectively. You set and adhere to deadlines and are accustomed to presenting and explaining complex contexts in a simple way.
Excellent knowledge of Swedish and good knowledge of English, both spoken and written, is a requirement. Likewise, good knowledge of the MS Office suite.
Employment Type
The position is a permanent employment.
Location
Norrköping.
