Your tasks

As a food inspector, you work to ensure safe food and that companies take into account documentation, food traceability, and that the food sold is the same as that marketed to consumers. You work based on applicable legislation and EU regulations regarding food control. Thus, you work responsibly and independently to plan and carry out entire processes with controls, inspections, and audits.
The position includes regular control and associated documentation but also working with local operational collaboration (LOS) in cooperation with other authorities and actors to promote safety for citizens and prevent unhealthy competition. The work also involves working with crime prevention controls.

We operate from premises in Ebbepark, and working hours are mainly scheduled Monday to Friday from 07:45 to 17:00 with flexible working hours, but evening and night work may occur.
Your workplace
Linköping is a growing municipality where environmental issues continue to be a high priority. Therefore, we need to strengthen the environmental department with more employees who will help drive the municipality's urban development forward and contribute to Linköping having safe and good environments for the city's residents, businesses, and future generations to live, reside, and operate in.
Our employees work to ensure a good environment in the municipality - we monitor air quality, noise, water, and climate, and are responsible for food safety and ensuring that there are good living environments. We control industries and businesses and work strategically with environmental issues and environmental communication in various areas. All this is done in our four units: the health protection unit, the climate unit, the food unit, and the environmental protection unit.
Who we are looking for
We are looking for someone with a higher education in the food area, such as an agronomist, nutritionist, food economist, microbiologist, environmental scientist, or other higher education deemed relevant by the employer. For the position, knowledge of food legislation and applicable regulations related to the area is required. Previous experience in food control or work in the food chain, regulatory authority, or experience in inspections and supervision is considered meritorious.
As you will be working with documentation, writing decisions and materials, and collaborating with both internal and external actors, good knowledge of Swedish in both spoken and written form is required. Good computer skills are a must as we work in digital case management systems and with digital tools. Travel within Linköping Municipality is part of the job, which also requires a B driver's license.
