On ward 14, there are 18 beds where kidney patients are the largest group; in addition to this patient category, patients are cared for in rheumatology and diabetes/endocrinology. In your role as a nurse, you will be responsible for patient care and will carry out and follow up on medical prescriptions. You will collaborate around the patient with competent colleagues from various professional categories with the aim of providing good and safe care. In the kidney unit, you will be part of a team with joy at work and with the patient in focus. In addition to nurses, the team consists of doctors, nursing assistants, medical secretaries, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, social workers, and dietitians. We offer development opportunities and the chance to gain broad competence through internal/external training and rotation within the kidney unit, which may involve work in dialysis, wards, or outpatient clinics. It is important to actively maintain our good collaboration within kidney care, which is a success factor for the organization.

The position involves work during the day, evening, and night.

Your future workplace

The kidney unit consists of a ward, outpatient clinic, and dialysis unit. The outpatient clinic treats about 800 patients, primarily with diagnoses of kidney failure and kidney transplantation. The dialysis unit currently has over a hundred patients receiving their dialysis treatment through peritoneal dialysis or hemodialysis. Many of our patients manage their treatment themselves, known as self-dialysis. Hemodialysis operates in Kalmar and Oskarshamn.

The Kalmar County Hospital is one of three hospitals in Kalmar County. The hospital is an emergency hospital with specialist care, maternity care, and postnatal care. Over 2300 people work here to provide good care and high patient safety to the county's residents. Our employees' continuous development efforts lead to good results in several national measurements.
