County Administrative Board of Skåne is looking for nature guides for naturum Stenshuvud

The County Administrative Board of Skåne is a government authority at the regional level responsible for public administration in the county. We work to ensure that national goals are implemented in the county based on regional conditions. Within our assignments, we provide advice, permits, and supervision, as well as plans and strategies. We manage natural areas and distribute financial support. We collaborate with stakeholders throughout the county.

We have approximately 600 employees and offices in Malmö and Kristianstad.

Description

The County Administrative Board is looking for one or more nature guides for naturum Stenshuvud, which belongs to the conservation unit in the department for nature and water.

Your workplace will be at the naturum located in Stenshuvud National Park. The employment is valid from Easter until November 2026. During spring and autumn, you will work weekends and occasional weekdays. During the summer peak season, you will work weekdays and weekends, but will not reach full-time. Start date according to agreement.

Stenshuvud is located in Österlen, near Kivik, and is Sweden's southernmost national park as well as one of the most species-rich and diverse national parks. The area and its nature attract up to half a million visitors annually, which places high demands on facilities, service, and information. The national park management is responsible for the maintenance of land and outdoor facilities, such as rest areas and hiking trails.

Naturum Stenshuvud has the overall responsibility for nature information in the area. Here, visitors gain knowledge and engagement for the valuable nature, as well as tips on attractions and hiking suggestions. Our goal is to spark visitors' interest in nature and to be the obvious place for meetings with people who want to know more about nature, outdoor life, and environmental issues. Our guiding words are “accessible, inspiring, and welcoming”.

The County Administrative Board of Skåne manages both the national park and the naturum.

Responsibilities

As an employee with us, you have three roles: employee, colleague, and operator. In the role of employee, you represent the authority; together with your colleagues, you contribute to the overall result, and as an operator, you create societal benefit based on your expertise.

As a nature guide at naturum Stenshuvud, you will have the following responsibilities:

• To inform visitors at the naturum's information desk about the national park and nearby natural areas.
• To lead nature tours for adults and children in the national park and at the naturum.
• To participate in dramatized presentations for children.
• Preparation of simple informational materials.
• Maintenance (cleaning at the naturum, litter picking outdoors, cleaning toilets, and outdoor life facilities).
• Staffing the information desk.
• Supervision regarding compliance with regulations.

Working alone may occur with full responsibility for opening and closing.

Qualifications

The County Administrative Board strives to have employees with diverse characteristics, conditions, and life experiences. It is the interaction between the employees' differences and similarities that constitutes one of the County Administrative Board's success factors.

We are looking for someone who may be a student or who has studied a couple of years in natural sciences at university, college, or has equivalent knowledge.

You have good knowledge of ecology, nature conservation, and Sweden's various animal and plant species, as well as good language skills in Swedish and English.

Work experience in guiding/children's groups and in the field of nature conservation is an advantage.

Knowledge of other languages is an advantage.

A driving license (B) is required.

As a person, you are service-oriented and proactive while having a sense of order and the ability to work independently. In your role as a nature guide, you meet many people, so it is essential that you are good at collaborating, outgoing, and feel comfortable communicating in front of groups.

Security Classification

The County Administrative Board has an important coordinating role during societal disturbances, and therefore we set high demands on our employees' security and confidentiality awareness. Some of our positions are security classified and may also involve a military placement at the authority, which means that a security review needs to be conducted before a hiring decision is made. In some cases, Swedish citizenship is required in accordance with the Security Protection Act (2018:585).
