Engineer in Gas Exchange

Our client is now looking for an engineer in gas exchange to a high-tech team working on the development of combustion engines for several global brands within the group. The role is based in Södertälje, and you will be part of a senior group responsible for ensuring that the engine “breathes” correctly – meaning that the intake and exhaust sides function optimally in terms of performance, lifespan, and installation in various chassis.

Responsibilities

Plan and lead testing of engine components
Gather the team and decide on test setups: temperatures, cycles, loads, test duration
Conduct analyses: thermo-mechanical fatigue (TMF) and low-cycle fatigue (LCF)
Perform lifespan calculations in MATLAB/Python
Interpret results, compare against requirements, and suggest improvements
Collaborate closely with designers, simulation teams, and article owners
Communicate with test facilities, including those in Germany
Some testing activities internationally

Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in mechanical engineering, engineering physics, or aerospace
Courses/knowledge in strength of materials, fluid mechanics, mathematics
Good experience with MATLAB or Python
Comfortable reading and understanding scripts and calculation models
Fluent in English
Driver's license (B) and ability to travel

Preferred Qualifications

Interest or basic knowledge of combustion engines
Experience in simulation
Swedish language skills
Previous experience with similar testing or lifespan analysis
