Bharat Forge Kilsta Strengthens Material Expertise – Seeking Metallurgist to Secure the Future Steel Chain

In Kilsta, forged components for industry and heavy vehicles have been produced for decades. To further ensure the material's performance, Bharat Forge is now recruiting a new metallurgist focused on the steel's journey from supplier to finished product.

The Material that Determines Everything

In the forging world, quality begins long before the steel reaches the presses. The choice of steel supplier, the metallurgical process, and the understanding of how alloys and processing affect the material – all of this determines the performance of the final products. At Bharat Forge, this insight is deeply rooted.

The new metallurgist will have a role that spans the entire chain. It involves evaluating steel suppliers in Sweden and Europe, understanding their processes, analyzing risks, and assessing technical capability. From testing equipment and the supplier's processes to chemical analyses and process changes, as well as the use of state-of-the-art technology – every part can be crucial for whether the steel meets the standards.

The team that the metallurgist will join is both experienced and diverse: quality technicians, environmental engineers, testing and calibration technicians, and an internal metallurgist working with internal processes. Daily check-ins and a culture of clarity and openness characterize the working method. The role also involves close collaboration with the purchasing department – both locally and within the group.

Technology Meets Business – and the World

Although the role is based in Karlskoga, the contact points are international.

The metallurgist supports several of Bharat Forge's European operations and also visits our steel suppliers. Travel occurs approximately once a month, for example to Germany or other European countries. Here, the work is not only about material analysis – but about building relationships, understanding processes in depth, and making well-founded assessments together with the business.

It is a position where technology meets business-critical decisions. In the role, you use your technical expertise to analyze, explain, and guide the technical decisions that need to be made.

Examples of Responsibilities:

• Evaluate and follow up on steel suppliers primarily in Sweden and Europe.
• Conduct technical audits and assess suppliers' processes and equipment.
• Be responsible for and develop steel specifications.
• Analyze material data, test results, and process changes.
• Support production and purchasing in material and quality-related issues.
• Manage steel-related quality issues and technical assessments.
• Build relationships with external suppliers and internal units in Europe.

Are You the One We Are Looking For?

We believe you have:

• A degree as a metallurgist, materials engineer, or equivalent.
• At least five years of experience in the steel, forging, or metal industry.
• A deep understanding of steel manufacturing, alloys, and how processes affect material properties.
• Experience evaluating steel suppliers and conducting technical audits.
• The ability to analyze material data and assess risks in processes and supply chains.
• Good collaboration skills and experience working closely with purchasing, customers, quality, and production.
• Very good knowledge of English, and Swedish is a strong advantage.
• A driver's license and the ability to travel regularly within Europe.
