We are looking for an engaged librarian!
We are looking for an engaged librarian who wants to help develop the library services of the future in Härjedalen! As a librarian at one of our branch libraries, you will play an important role in creating a love for reading, supporting school educators, and providing an inspiring environment for children, youth, and adults. Our operations are HBTQI- and diversity-certified, which means active work for inclusion, equal service, and everyone’s right to feel welcome.
In Härjedalen Municipality, we have a main library in Sveg and five integrated public and school libraries located in Hede, Funäsdalen, Vemdalen, Lillhärdal, and Ytterhogdal.
The position is 50% with the workplace located in Ytterhogdal. The library in Ytterhogdal is an integrated public and school library. Work at other locations may occur as needed. Start date by agreement.
Job Responsibilities
The position includes standard library tasks such as lending, purchasing, and weeding. You will have primary responsibility for purchasing, weeding, and events at the unit (library) where you work and drive the development of the operation based on local needs. You will actively promote reading and plan, implement, and follow up on activities that spark curiosity and interest in reading and learning – for example, book talks, book presentations, and program activities.
A central part of the assignment is to strengthen the library's role in society and contribute to realizing the libraries' democratic mission. This means safeguarding free access to information, creating inclusive meeting places, and working to ensure that all residents have equal opportunities to access culture, knowledge, and information. You will work closely with school educators on issues related to media and information literacy (MIL) and support both students and teachers in information retrieval, literature selection, and MIL-related questions. The role also includes collaboration with teachers, principals, and other librarians in the municipality.
Development and Collaboration
As an employee with us, you contribute to developing both your own unit and the municipality's joint library services. This involves participating in operational development, skills-enhancing initiatives, and an efficient use of our combined resources.
Children and youth are a prioritized target group. We actively work to strengthen services for them, which may also include elements of general culture related to the library's mission.
The position includes participating in the library's innovation and development work as well as in the common tasks of outreach operations. You will develop, implement, and lead reading promotion activities for children and youth in close collaboration with other employees.

- Bachelor's degree in library and information science or equivalent education
- Previous experience working with children and youth in library services

You have very good social skills and are service-oriented. Above all, we see that you are passionate about the library's mission and want to be part of our team and develop our services forward.
