The Swedish National Board of Institutional Care, SiS, is an authority responsible for individually tailored compulsory care for young people with complex psychosocial issues and for adults with substance abuse. Job Description
SiS Youth Home Johannisberg in Kalix is now looking for summer temporary staff for the summer of 2026.
SiS Youth Home Johannisberg is a high-security institution beautifully located next to the Kalix River in the quiet residential area of Grytnäs. The institution is in a phase of development and expansion where efforts to increase staffing and security are ongoing. Our target group in Kalix consists of boys aged 16 - 21 placed according to the Law on Closed Youth Care and the Law on Care of Young People. All work is permeated by our guiding principles: Respect, Care, and Clarity. As a new employee with us, you will receive thorough introduction and guidance from an experienced colleague, along with local professional development in areas such as safety, unauthorized influence, and conflict management.
As a treatment assistant, you will work in a team on the unit alongside competent colleagues who are eager for you to join the team. Your daily work includes building trusting relationships and motivating our youth to adopt new and less risky ways of living. You play an important role in the stability of our youth and provide the foundation for daily life, including schooling, activities, cooking, and cleaning. As a treatment assistant, you also contribute to maintaining safety in the institution according to our guidelines and routines.
Working hours are scheduled according to a rotating schedule of days, evenings, and weekends.

Qualifications
We are looking for someone who has the ability to build trusting relationships with our youth. You have a positive view of people, and your motivation is to work with young people. You share SiS's values of being a place for change. As a person, you relate to others in a sensitive and flexible manner, while also being able to set boundaries and adhere to decisions made. You are secure, stable, and able to maintain a professional demeanor even in pressured situations. You work well with others and are happy to share your knowledge with colleagues.
You should also have:
- A minimum of a 2-year post-secondary education from a folk high school or vocational college (KY/YH) or other education equivalent to this. The education should be focused on social work, social pedagogy, behavioral science, or another relevant subject area.
- Good Swedish language skills in both speech and writing
- Good physical ability
*Exceptions to the requirement for a minimum of a two-year post-secondary education may be made in individual cases if there are special reasons according to Chapter 5, Section 4 of the Social Services Ordinance (2025:468). Please attach your high school diploma and/or certificate of post-secondary education to your application. High school diplomas/certificates issued in another country must be translated and validated in Sweden via the Swedish Council for Higher Education (UHR).
Working as a summer temporary staff member at SiS provides you, as a student in social pedagogy or another post-secondary education focused on psychology, sociology, or pedagogy, with valuable experiences and knowledge for your future career. Desirable:
- Experience working with people in vulnerable life situations, such as in corrections, psychiatry, care, and support, or equivalent
- Driver's license B
Employment
The positions are temporary full-time contracts during the period of June - August or as agreed. There is also the possibility of hourly work both before and after the summer period. Start date is negotiable.
