Description

The Psychiatric Clinic consists of inpatient care, with a 24/7 emergency department, and psychiatric outpatient services in Falköping, Skövde, Lidköping, and Mariestad.

The inpatient care consists of four wards with a total of 58 beds in completely new and modern facilities at Skaraborg Hospital in Skövde, as well as an additional 33 beds in forensic psychiatry in Falköping.

We train AT and BT physicians and have received consistently high ratings in recent years, which continuously attracts new ST physicians. We are constantly working to develop our processes and are purposefully striving to achieve full physician staffing.

The Adult Psychiatry at Skaraborg Hospital is now seeking additional members for our ST physician group.

We are looking for someone who is genuinely interested in the conditions that affect brain functions and who wants to help develop our operations. You will be part of a strong and cohesive physician group with the ambition to become one of Sweden's best psychiatric clinics.

Job Responsibilities

In inpatient care, you will work together with senior physicians and perform diagnostic assessments, deepen your knowledge of psychiatric treatment and applied psychiatric law, and participate in the medical management of the ward. Supervising students, junior colleagues, and AT physicians is seen as a natural part of your job responsibilities. As an ST physician, you will be a key person in ensuring the daily operations of the ward run smoothly, maintaining close contact with nurses and caregivers.

During the ST period, a longer placement at one of the four psychiatric outpatient clinics is included. Work in psychiatric outpatient care is based on senior physician-led interdisciplinary teams where patients are categorized by diagnoses and receive tailored treatment. You will independently follow up on patients over time, deepen your knowledge in psychiatric diagnostics and treatment, and handle more urgent matters such as care certificate assessments and home visits. Even in outpatient care, you will work with the support of senior physicians for each team.

As an ST physician, you are expected to be part of the ongoing internal training program of the operation – both for other staff groups and, of course, for the many training physicians who pass through the clinic.

The position of ST physician also includes on-call duties at the psychiatric emergency department.

Qualifications

We are looking for a licensed physician with an interest and curiosity for adult psychiatry and who sees psychiatry as your future specialty.

If you are graduated or licensed outside the EU/EEA, you must have the right to work as a physician in Sweden. If you are studying medicine abroad, the requirement is that you study within the EU. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

Interviews are conducted on an ongoing basis. We always check the criminal record and background register before employment. The extract is ordered by the employer.
