Department of Meals

In the Department of Meals, we work with more than just food – we create conditions for good health, well-being, and quality of life.

We lead and coordinate meal work within Region Gotland, from planning and development to implementation and follow-up.

Meals are a central part of everyday life in schools, elderly care, and healthcare. With our expertise and commitment, we contribute to good living conditions, health-promoting care, and an equitable learning environment. Every day, we prepare, deliver, and sometimes serve food to thousands of children, students, the elderly, and patients – always focusing on quality and care.

We are now looking for two engaged Head Chefs – one for Klinteskolan's kitchen in Klintehamn and one for Högbyskolan's kitchen in Hemse.

Your Responsibilities

Responsibilities include:

  • Being the driving force in the kitchen and ensuring high-quality meals.
  • Leading and distributing daily work and ensuring appropriate staffing.
  • Managing orders, inventory, and invoicing.
  • Maintaining high standards regarding quality, hygiene, and regulations.
  • Working based on a shared menu in collaboration with colleagues.
  • Contributing to a holistic view and actively developing our service towards customers.
  • Creating a valued meal experience in schools together with colleagues.
  • Taking responsibility for administrative tasks, developing routines, driving improvements, and promoting rotation for the team's competence.
  • Training and coaching staff in administrative routines for a self-sufficient and competent team.
  • Combining leadership, passion for food, and development work with daily impact.
  • Being part of a flexible operation that manages changes through rotation within the kitchen, kitchen area, and department.

Who Are You?

You have a chef or kitchen manager education, or equivalent experience and education deemed comparable by the employer. Several years of experience in a leading role in a kitchen and a B driver's license are required. Experience from both public kitchens and restaurants, knowledge of Matilda or similar dietary systems, and special diets are advantageous.

As a person, you are stable and maintain calm and security even in challenging situations. You are goal- and result-oriented, working focused towards set goals with drive and perseverance, and demonstrating good judgment in decision-making and prioritization based on a holistic view.

You are loyal and act with integrity in accordance with the organization's values and mission. Your leadership is clear and inclusive, focusing on responsibility, trust, and collaboration. Your cultural awareness allows you to understand and respectfully meet different perspectives and cultures.

You are structured and quality-conscious, planning and organizing work carefully, and using creativity to continuously improve quality and results.
