We have a well-functioning collaboration between the Pediatric and Adolescent Clinic and habilitation, and as a pediatric neurologist, your time will be divided roughly equally between the clinics. Habilitation is a specialist service that provides support to children, adolescents, and adults with disabilities and their relatives. The service is aimed at individuals with congenital or early-acquired disabilities such as intellectual disabilities, movement disorders, or neuropsychiatric disabilities. As a pediatric neurologist with us, you will have the opportunity to work broadly and in interdisciplinary teams both at the Pediatric and Adolescent Clinic and at habilitation.

About you

We are looking for someone who is a specialist in pediatric neurology, or someone who is a specialist in pediatric and adolescent medicine with an interest and desire to specialize in pediatric neurology. As a person, you are social and have an easy time collaborating with your colleagues and see the value of all professions. You can communicate clearly with both colleagues and patients. You value good reception and good patient contact. At the clinic, we place great focus on the individual development of our staff, and we expect you to have a positive view of change work. Within your area of interest, you have a desire to drive the clinic forward. Personal suitability is of great importance.

As a specialist in pediatric and adolescent medicine, you are expected to participate in on-call duties as primary and/or backup and be responsible for pediatric patients in the emergency department, pediatric ward, and neonatal unit.

Your future workplace

The Pediatric and Adolescent Clinic provides specialized care to children and adolescents aged 0-18 years with pediatric diseases. We offer care for patients around the clock, every day of the year. We have outpatient services, our own inpatient beds for neonatal, pediatric, and adolescent care, as well as our own emergency department. The clinic employs over 140 staff members, and on the medical side, we currently have 30 doctors, including one pediatric neurologist. Kalmar has been named Sweden's summer city for several years. Ward 25 receives all children and adolescents aged 0-18 years who need inpatient care. We primarily care for pediatric conditions, but also surgical, orthopedic, and ENT patients requiring inpatient care.

In the neonatal unit, children born prematurely from week 30 of pregnancy or who, for other reasons, need inpatient care during the newborn period come to us. We collaborate with delivery and maternity wards and work with zero separation, where the goal is for mother and child not to be separated during the care period. The Kalmar County Hospital is one of three hospitals in Kalmar County. The hospital is an emergency hospital with specialized care, maternity care, and a maternity ward. Over 2300 people work here to provide good care and high patient safety to the residents of the county. Our staff's continuous development efforts lead to good results in several national measurements. The hospital is located near Kalmar city center and Kalmarsund.
