Plaster Technician/Care Assistant with Casting Competence

About the position

At the Orthopedic, Acute and Trauma Surgery Clinic, highly specialized care is provided within five patient flows: acute orthopedics and traumatology, acute surgery, spinal diseases, arthroplasty, and extremity deformities as well as musculoskeletal tumors. In the role of plaster technician/care assistant, you will work in a team together with other plaster technicians, nurses, doctors, physiotherapists, and occupational therapists. You will meet patients with fractures, spinal diseases, skeletal deformities, surgical trauma, and multi-trauma. In addition to outpatient work, the job includes independent suture and wound care as well as casting treatments.

Our working hours are primarily scheduled during daytime Monday to Friday.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Proof of protected professional title for care assistants or employer certificate confirming that you had permanent employment as a care assistant on July 1, 2023, in accordance with the transitional provisions (2021:739) in the Patient Safety Act (2010:659). If you are applying with an employer certificate, you must attach your care assistant diploma.
  • Experience in independently performing casting treatments
  • More than 3 years of experience as a care assistant in emergency care
  • Good knowledge of orthopedic nursing
  • Good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written

Meritorious:

  • Plaster technician training
  • Experience in outpatient work and advanced wound care (e.g., negative pressure treatment for hard-to-heal wounds)
  • Experience in documentation and booking in TakeCare
  • Experience working with the inventory concept JIT
