Occupational Health Engineer to Försvarshälsan

Försvarshälsan is expanding its staff with an additional competence to meet the needs of support for an increasing number of conscripts and employees in a growing authority.

Försvarshälsan is our internal occupational health service. We provide occupational health care for employees as well as health care including daily medical care for conscripts during basic training. Our mission is to support I 21 with defense medical capability and continuously work on the development of goals and methods to be a support to the operations. The work is based on all three health perspectives: promoting, preventive, and rehabilitative.

You will work in a multidisciplinary team consisting of nurses, physiotherapists, medical secretaries, psychologists, doctors, and managers.

The position is specifically focused on the chemical and physical workplace risks present within I 21. The position requires you to be engaged and have experience in independently carrying out various interventions. As an occupational health engineer, you will strategically and operationally contribute to driving and developing workplace health efforts in the garrison.

Main Responsibilities

Your tasks will include:

  • working with systematic workplace health efforts together with other functions in various forums for workplace health work
  • advising on workplace adjustments regarding various forms of exposure to workplace risks
  • participating in risk assessments
  • being familiar with applicable laws and regulations in the field of workplace health
  • educating and performing advisory interventions at all levels
  • conducting investigations, mappings, and occupational hygiene measurements of the physical work environment and, if necessary, proposing changes
  • maintaining contact with authorities and participating in inspections

The role of the occupational health engineer is to be an independent expert resource and support in workplace health efforts.

REQUIREMENTS

  • University education as an occupational health engineer, or other equivalent education deemed equivalent by the employer
  • Experience working as an occupational health engineer
  • Driving license B, manual
  • Experience in occupational hygiene measurements
  • Experience working in or independently managing projects
  • Good computer skills
  • Good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written

PREFERABLE

  • Completed military service
  • Experience working within the Armed Forces
  • Experience in occupational health care
  • Experience in environments with high noise and vibration loads
  • Experience in operations with a large number of chemical health risks
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary teams

Personal Qualities

You should have an easy time collaborating with others, as well as with external organizations. You should be structured, engaged, driven, responsible, and have an analytical approach. You should be able to convey complex information in a pedagogical manner and have good communication skills. You have a desire to contribute to the unit's development and to work together with your colleagues to create a good work environment for yourself and each other. You are solution-oriented and engaged and feel comfortable working in a changing organization that at times requires reprioritization.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

Employment: Permanent employment starting with a 6-month probationary period
Location: Sollefteå, you will also work in Östersund and Härnösand. Work in other locations may occur.

Employment rate: Full-time

Working hours: 40 hours/week. Working hours will primarily be during daytime, but work at other times may occur.

Internal training and travel in the job occur regularly.
Start date: As soon as possible

In 2022, the Västernorrland Regiment was reestablished with the Jämtland Field Ranger Corps, I 21. A new regiment with centuries-old traditions in Västernorrland and Jämtland. With us, you have the opportunity to be part of something unique, the reestablishment of a regiment in Lower Norrland.

I 21 currently operates in Sollefteå, Östersund, and Härnösand and is responsible for the Lower Norrland Garrison. In Sollefteå, there is the Regimental Staff (with personnel in both Sollefteå and Östersund) and the Ångermanland Infantry Battalion. In Östersund, there is the Jämtland Field Ranger Corps. Additionally, there is a Garrison Support Unit, Occupational Health, and Logistics Unit operating in Sollefteå, Östersund, and Härnösand.

At the Ångermanland Infantry Battalion and the Jämtland Field Ranger Corps, we train conscript soldiers for service in the new modern infantry under our proud motto “From mountains to sea, for the defense of Lower Norrland”.
