Bufff Sweden is a national children's rights organization that supports children and young people with a relative who is deprived of liberty. Our work is based on the Convention on the Rights of the Child and aims to ensure that children are seen, heard, and receive the support they are entitled to. We work with the entire family – both the incarcerated family member and the relatives who remain on the outside – to strengthen relationships, create security, and ensure that children's needs are always at the center. Through both preventive and supportive measures, we aim to provide children with better conditions, regardless of whether their parent, sibling, or they themselves are deprived of liberty.

We are now looking for a project manager for a three-year project funded by the Legacy Fund, where Bufff will develop a new approach to strengthen support for children placed in LSU and their families. Regardless of whether the children will come into contact with SiS or the Prison Service in the future, they and their relatives should be met with a cohesive, long-term, and child-centered support. This project will lay the foundation for that.

About the position

We are looking for a team member who wants to drive and develop important work for children and young people with incarcerated relatives. As a project manager, you will be responsible for leading the project from start to finish. You will coordinate mappings, lead reference groups, and develop methodological materials. The role involves close collaboration with both Bufff's staff, SiS youth homes, and the Prison Service. The position includes both strategic and operational work, documentation, and training initiatives.

The position is project-based, but there is a clear hope that it can be extended after the project's end.

Examples of tasks:

  • Project planning, coordination, and documentation
  • Interviews, surveys, and needs assessments
  • Lead working and reference groups (children, siblings, relatives, staff)
  • Develop, test, and revise methodological and working materials
  • Collaborate with SIS, social services, and other relevant actors
  • Produce reports, training materials, and communication materials
  • Participate in training and knowledge dissemination

Qualifications

To succeed in this role, we are looking for someone with both relevant expertise and a genuine commitment to children's rights issues. You need to have experience working in complex contexts, be able to lead development processes, and feel comfortable interacting with children and young people in vulnerable situations. Below are the qualifications we consider most important for the position:

Requirements

  • Relevant academic education (e.g., social worker, behavioral scientist, educator, criminologist, or similar)
  • Documented experience in project management with budget responsibility
  • Experience working with children or young people in vulnerable life situations
  • Good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in Swedish
  • Experience collaborating with authorities or larger organizations
  • Ability to work independently, structured, and ethically

Meritorious

  • Experience with SIS, the Prison Service, or social services
  • Experience working with incarcerated children/young people or crime prevention
  • Knowledge of child-centered conversations
  • Experience in methodological or process development
  • Experience with reference groups and target group participation
  • Experience in the non-profit sector
  • Experience in fundraising
  • Developing projects and organizations
  • Experience in accounting responsibility

We are looking for you

We are looking for someone who is secure and stable even in challenging situations, and who works in a structured manner with great responsibility. You find it easy to build relationships and meet both children, relatives, and partners with attentiveness and respect. A strong commitment to children's rights issues is a natural part of your drive, and you have the ability to build trust in complex and sometimes sensitive contexts.

You will be part of a team with self-driven colleagues where everyone contributes their expertise, supports each other, and works towards common goals.

We believe you are:

  • secure and stable
  • structured and responsible
  • relationship-building and attentive
  • engaged in children's rights issues
  • skilled at building trust in complex situations

We offer

We offer a unique opportunity to lead a national development project in an important and growing area. With us, you will have a meaningful job where you make a concrete difference for vulnerable children and their families. You will become part of a dedicated children's rights team and work closely with both SiS and the Prison Service in developing future support. The role offers great flexibility and room for your own initiatives, while also giving you the opportunity to influence how society meets a target group that is often overlooked but needs support more than ever. Bufff is a secure workplace with a collective agreement and good employment conditions.
