The Municipal Executive Administration works on behalf of the municipal council and is responsible for several cross-municipal assignments. Under the Department of Democracy and Development, three units are gathered that are crucial for supporting, defending, and ultimately strengthening local democracy. This includes the Executive Office, which is responsible for ensuring processes and decision-making support for politicians, the Security Unit, which contributes robustness in security and protection issues, and the Development Unit, responsible for leading, supporting, and coordinating the development and management of cross-municipal digitalization issues.

Job Responsibilities

As the department head, you are responsible for leading, coordinating, and developing the department with its approximately 30 employees and managers. Together with unit managers and employees, you are tasked with leading, coordinating, and following up on the department's areas of responsibility. In your role, you will also be the direct unit manager for the Development Unit.

We offer a developing leadership role where change management, collaboration, and good results are highly valued. You need to balance your two managerial assignments. The department's work is carried out in close collaboration with municipal leadership and representatives from both administrations and municipal companies. You will be part of the management team of the administration.

Qualifications

As a leader in Piteå municipality, you are a role model for others and have a holistic perspective in your actions and decisions. You are therefore coaching, clear, and communicative in your leadership, creating engagement and participation based on a trust-based approach.

You have an academic education in the field or other training and experience that we assess as equivalent.

This leadership role is multifaceted, which places particularly high demands on you. You need to have experience and a good understanding of municipal operations, knowledge of municipal governance and management, and a basic understanding of security issues. It is an advantage if you have experience leading operational development with a focus on digitalization and citizen-related issues.

As a person, you have an analytical and structured working method where the whole is important while you value efficiency. For you, it is important to achieve progress and delivery on current issues. You are confident in your professional role despite the expectations placed on you. You dare to trust your intuition, break patterns, and think outside the box.
