Hematology is an exciting specialty where research is at the forefront.

We are constantly striving to develop and strengthen the unit. The unit specializes in caring for patients with various hematological conditions at all stages of life. We also care for patients with acute leukemias and high-grade lymphomas, which involves everything from intensive care to palliative care. The Hematology unit in Skövde consists of both outpatient and inpatient care. To provide the best care for our patients, outpatient and inpatient care work closely together.

In Skövde, the entire hematological assignment for Skaraborg is handled. To meet future challenges, the unit has been tasked with working on the transformation of care, which means we aim to reduce the need for inpatient care and increase the opportunity for alternative forms of care such as home care, digital visits, and increased day care.

Our department is staffed during weekdays by section leaders who plan and lead the daily work and coordinate our patient flows to the department. Our section leaders and our competence support team are a valuable support for all employees. Competence development is prioritized with us, and we offer internal training every week.

What can we offer you!

We offer a stimulating and varied job with the opportunity for advanced medical technology combined with good nursing care. Within the organization, we diagnose, investigate, treat, and follow up on our patients. The tasks mainly consist of medical treatments such as chemotherapy, blood and platelet transfusions, and other medication treatments, as well as standard nursing tasks around the patient. The work requires commitment, responsiveness, teamwork, and innovative thinking to drive development and patient care forward. We work with integrated staffing, which means you may work in both inpatient and outpatient care.

We focus on your personal development and offer you both structured introduction and a long-term individual development plan. You will be scheduled for training in chemotherapy management and eventually for hematology training in Gothenburg (7.5 credits). In addition to standard job tasks for the profession, we ensure that you get to do things you are interested in. Perhaps you have some specialized skills that are valuable to us? Your profile

We are looking for a licensed nurse who is interested in working with cancer care. If you have further education and/or experience in hematology, it is an advantage. You are positive, responsible, and strive to develop and grow in your professional role. You develop by using your skills in the team and grow by learning from others' expertise. Great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities such as the ability to work independently, flexibility, and interest in working with people in vulnerable life situations. We value the ability to handle different work tempos. As a person, you are trustworthy and have an easy time building good relationships with both colleagues and patients.
