Job Advertisement: Nurse for Research Group

Gothenburg University meets societal challenges with diverse knowledge. With 58,000 students and 6,800 employees, the university is a large and inspiring workplace. Strong research and attractive education attract researchers and students from all over the world. With new knowledge and new perspectives, Gothenburg University contributes to a better future.

The Department of Medicine, Division of Molecular and Clinical Medicine, conducts translational research primarily around metabolism, diabetes, obesity, and cardiovascular disease with the aim of improving health and healthcare in society. The overarching goal is to create an excellent translational research environment of very high international standard.

Both diet and gut bacteria have a significant impact on people's health and well-being. Much of the research in this area is based on data from animal studies or epidemiological studies in humans. The need for well-controlled intervention studies to establish causal relationships and investigate underlying mechanisms is great. Our research group studies the role and significance of diet in the prevention of cardiometabolic diseases, weight control, and appetite regulation. We are particularly interested in developing better and more personalized methods for more effective prevention (precision nutrition) based on extensive data from individuals (microbiota, metabolomics, health status, dietary and lifestyle habits). Our research group is primarily based at Chalmers but has an expanding branch at Sahlgrenska. We hope you want to be a part of our group! Welcome with your application!

Job Responsibilities

As part of the research group, you will work in an environment at the forefront of research in both diet, gut bacteria, and cardiovascular disease, in the interface between biomedicine and clinic. You will also be an important part of a larger team of researchers and physicians with different competencies who collaborate with the ambition to ultimately influence preventive care for some of our most common public diseases. As a nurse, you will participate in several research studies. You will plan your work together with others in the team. The employment has a scope of 80-100% per month based on your and the organization's wishes.

Your responsibilities include assisting in the recruitment of study participants based on specified inclusion and exclusion criteria, planning and coordinating visits in the study, performing blood sampling, data collection, handling and biobanking of blood, urine, and stool samples from study participants, collecting and managing clinical data, and coordinating efforts together with dietitians, lab personnel, and researchers.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Licensed nurse. At least 3 years of work experience as a nurse.
  • Documented experience in blood sampling. Very good knowledge of Swedish.

Meritorious:

  • Previous experience in handling and biobanking biological samples.
  • Experience in participating in research studies, especially dietary studies.
  • Knowledge and certification in Good Clinical Practice (GCP).
  • Previous experience working in an international research environment with English as the working language.

Personal qualities:

We are looking for someone who is confident, flexible, and enjoys working at a fast pace with others, where you are self-sufficient in your role as a nurse. We also hope you have a genuine interest in research and continuing education in the field. You are structured and quality-conscious, but also flexible and creative. Collaboration skills and a good ability to communicate in both Swedish and English are central to the assignment. We place great importance on personal suitability.
