Communications Department
We are looking for a full-time project manager to be employed at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU), in the central Communications Department.
In 2027, SLU will celebrate its 50th anniversary – and we intend to celebrate it in a way that engages, highlights, and unites the entire university. We are now seeking an experienced and driven project manager who wants to lead this unique anniversary project and create a celebration that is felt throughout Sweden.
About the Job
SLU 50 years is a three-year strategic project with two main tracks:
- A year-long celebration that gathers the entire SLU
You will lead the planning, production, and execution of a broad program of events, activities, and communication efforts – in close collaboration with SLU Communication, faculties, and our locations.
- A journey across Sweden to all our operational sites
You will be responsible for creating and implementing a mobile initiative that engages students in grade 8 across the country. The aim is to spark curiosity about SLU's programs, strengthen knowledge of our subject areas, and contribute to the recruitment of future students. The project has significant strategic importance and a wide range of internal and external stakeholders – which requires good collaboration skills, creativity, and confident leadership.
Responsibilities
As the project manager for SLU 50 years, you will:
- Develop an overarching project plan, timeline, budget, and work structures
- Drive the planning and execution of the anniversary year's activities
- Lead cross-functional working groups and collaborate with operations across SLU
- Coordinate physical and digital events
- Be responsible for collaboration with external partners
- Lead and develop the journey across Sweden – content, logistics, and school contacts
- Ensure a clear connection between the project and SLU's goals regarding awareness, reputation, and impact
- Follow up, evaluate, and report on effects and results
Your Background
We are looking for someone who:
- Thrives in roles where you combine overall responsibility with operational execution.
- Finds it easy to create engagement and build relationships.
- Is driven, solution-focused, and confident in leading under complexity.
- Is passionate about societal benefit, knowledge, and sustainable development.
Requirements
- Relevant higher education
- Experience in project management with many stakeholders and complex deliveries.
- Very good ability to organize, plan, and drive work independently.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Fluent in Swedish and very good knowledge of English.
- Driver's license (B)
Meritorious
- Experience from working in academia or other large knowledge organizations.
- Experience in event production, campaign management, or larger public initiatives.
- Experience working with young target groups.
About Us
We offer a unique opportunity to shape and lead one of SLU's most strategic initiatives in the coming years. You will work in a knowledgeable and value-driven organization that advocates for sustainable food systems, biodiversity, and the green competencies of the future.
