We are looking for a senior qualified measurement specialist in groundwater measurement for the Swedish Transport Administration (Trafikverket).

This is a multi-year consulting assignment. The location is Varberg.

The position is 20%.

The assignment involves close collaboration with the client, which places great demands on flexibility and teamwork skills.

The Assignment

The role of senior qualified measurement specialist involves performing measurements, controls, and data collection according to the applicable control program for the Varberg tunnel and its construction parts. The assignment includes both technical fieldwork and administrative handling of measurement data, including reporting to the Swedish Transport Administration, supervisory authorities, and environmental databases. The work aims to ensure that conditions in permits for water activities are met, that environmental impacts are detected in time, and that measures can be taken in case of deviations. The role also includes contacts with authorities, deviation management, and preparation of annual reporting.

Responsibilities

Establish work preparation and risk analysis for own work and conduct monthly data management of flow data from a total of 6 measurement stations.

Retrieve flow data from 4 measurement stations via the Swedish Transport Administration's GELD system and perform logger emptying at 2 measurement stations (Österleden and Vareborg).

Conduct manual monthly groundwater level measurements at 58 measurement points and deliver all collected data to the Swedish Transport Administration's database EQUIS.

Communicate with the client in case of events affecting the controls, e.g., damaged measurement points or alarm threshold exceedances.

Contact the County Administrative Board in case of risk of harm to human health or the environment according to § 6 of Regulation (1998:901) and document all deviations.

Prepare and compile the annual report for the supervisory authority.

Possible Additional Responsibilities:

Propose revisions or expansions of the control program and carry out supplementary controls (surface water levels, flows in watercourses, analysis/sampling of groundwater or surface water).

Perform verification measurements of automatic flow measurement in rock tunnels, including administrative handling of access.

Manage the establishment and de-establishment of measurement points and report control results to property owners upon request.

Investigate damages after incoming reports and assist in contacts with property owners, stakeholders, and authorities.

Prepare documentation for supplementary reporting, conduct specific investigations, and provide decision support.

Requirements (IMPORTANT, mandatory)

Act as a qualified expert in the relevant field. Good knowledge of the effects and consequences of groundwater lowering. Good knowledge of current environmental legislation, the Environmental Code, and related laws and regulations. At least three (3) years of higher education or equivalent, relevant to the assignment. Good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written. At least seven (7) years in the relevant subject area. Extensive practical experience in similar tasks. Participated in or carried out several comparable assignments with good references. Takes great responsibility in the relevant area. Can work independently in the relevant area.
