Description

The Infection Department 22 is an acute care unit with admissions around the clock.

Our task is to provide qualified care, treatment, and nursing for patients with acute, chronic, infectious, and non-infectious diseases. This means that as a nurse with us, you will have many stimulating tasks and constantly face new challenges.

We care for patients with infectious diseases from all specialties within healthcare. This means you will encounter patients with different care needs who, at the specific time of care, require infection-specialized treatment. Patients may initially be seriously ill, but most recover from their infection and can go home. The average length of stay is 5–6 days.

The department is in constant development as the infection panorama changes nationally and internationally. Before the Covid-19 pandemic, only the intensive care unit (ICU) at SkaS could provide high-flow treatment, a method of treating patients with warm, humidified air mixed with oxygen at high flows. As a result of the pandemic, we now also have this treatment option in the infection department, allowing us to care for seriously ill patients who would otherwise need intensive care.

The Infection Department has its own infection on-call service around the clock responsible for inpatients, which is a significant advantage for us on the department.

The Infection Department is located next to our infection clinic, where we also have our needle exchange clinic. This means we have close access to our doctors and colleagues at the clinic.

Responsibilities

As a nurse in the infection department, you work in a team with doctors, nurses, nursing assistants, and physiotherapists and occupational therapists. You start from a patient-centered approach where the patient's medical and nursing needs are central to the care provided.

A hygiene-focused approach, where active risk awareness in everyday life forms the basis for preventing the spread of infection between patients and from patients to staff, is a given for us, and the work includes teaching and guiding patients, staff, and students, as well as contributing to the continued development of the operations.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a licensed nurse, preferably with infection experience. If you do not have that, you will gain that experience with us. If you are flexible, responsible, have a positive attitude, and see the equal value of all people as a given, you could be the one we are looking for!

Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.
