About Björkvallsskolan

Björkvallsskolan is a pleasant school for grades 6-9 located near nature, in Björklinge, Uppsala Municipality. The kitchen is a newly renovated production kitchen, where approximately 500 meals are prepared by a team of 3 people. The kitchen is part of a kitchen management unit with several school and preschool kitchens in the Björklinge/Bälinge/Börje and Jumkil area. Cooperation between the kitchens is a given, and joint meetings and gatherings are also held. Working hours are daytime, Monday to Friday.

Job Description

The work includes cleaning and disinfecting utensils, machines, and surfaces, replenishing dishes, cutlery, glasses, and napkins. Preparation of salad buffets, assisting with lighter cooking alongside the chefs. It also includes performing self-checks in accordance with applicable legislation.

As a meal assistant in Meal Service, you will work both with the preparation of the salad buffet and in the serving area where you meet guests directly.

The assignment also includes:

• handling dishes
• handling special diets
• receiving deliveries
• unpacking goods
• maintaining daily cleaning routines
• working with HACCP
• replenishing the salad and food buffets

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a kitchen education, HACCP training, or other training that the employer deems relevant for the position. The work requires that you have experience as a meal assistant/kitchen assistant. We also see that you have good knowledge of food hygiene and knowledge of special diets. Good oral and written skills in Swedish are also required for the position.

If you have previous experience working in a large kitchen, particularly with lunch service, it is considered an advantage. It is also advantageous if you have knowledge of meal planning systems such as Mashie or Mateo. It is also beneficial if you have a B driver's license and computer skills.

You adapt easily to changing circumstances and see opportunities in changes. You can quickly adjust both your perspective and your approach when the situation requires it. At the same time, you collaborate well with others, are attentive, and flexible in your way of relating to people. You communicate clearly, listen actively, and handle conflicts constructively.
