JOB DESCRIPTION
Secure a summer position at Kumla Prison now.
Do you want to contribute to a safer society? As a correctional officer in a prison, you are the foundation of the security work. You work in a team with other professionals to maintain a safe and secure environment and to motivate clients towards a life free from crime. Daily tasks include locking and unlocking residential rooms, searching premises, and supervision, as well as providing counseling and preparing for release, among others. The role of a correctional officer involves a structured and routine-based approach with a focus on risk assessment and security awareness. The work is varied, and there are many development opportunities for those seeking continued employment. It is important that you share the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's fundamental values of a humane view of humanity, respect for the individual, and the belief that people can develop and change.
You are part of the team that works closest to the client - you are the one who locks and unlocks, accompanies clients to various activities, and ensures that daily life functions, always with a focus on safety. You will receive two weeks of paid introduction. A summer job is a good entry point to a permanent position with paid training.
QUALIFICATIONS
We place great emphasis on your personal suitability. You are secure, stable, have good self-awareness, sound judgment, and integrity. You enjoy working with others and communicate clearly. You can also act physically when required. You share our belief that people can develop and change.
We are looking for someone who has:
- Work experience, including seasonal work, part-time employment, or self-employment. Internships and volunteer work are not considered equivalent to employment.
- Complete upper secondary education or other education in combination with work experience that the Swedish Prison and Probation Service deems relevant.
- The ability to express yourself well in spoken and written Swedish.
- Good computer skills.
It is an advantage if you:
- Have work experience in corrections, security work, service work, psychiatry, or healthcare and social work.
- Knowledge in relevant areas, such as behavioral science, criminology, psychiatry, law, and conflict management.
- Have a B driver's license.
- Speak multiple languages.

The operations of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service run 24/7, year-round, and scheduling therefore occurs at irregular working hours, including shifts during days, evenings, and weekends. Some schedules may involve night work.
