Do you want to help develop the innovative access solutions of the future?
At ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems in Skellefteå, you get a unique opportunity to combine technical development, creative problem-solving, and tangible impact. Here, you work closely with the product, alongside a dedicated and helpful team – in a family-like environment backed by the strength of a global company.
About the position
As an R&D Mechanical Engineer, you will be a key person in the work of developing the next generation of products. You will be part of an experienced and close-knit team of nine, where collaboration, technical drive, and innovation are at the center.
The role focuses on research and development, and you will work on creating competitive, sustainable, and future-proof solutions that strengthen the company's market position.
You will report to the Engineering Manager EMEA and work closely with colleagues in production, project management, sales support, and after-sales. The position is located in Skellefteå.
Your main responsibilities
- Develop, design, and document new and existing products
- Drive development projects and contribute to research and innovation work
- Perform calculations and produce technical documentation, specifications, and item lists
- Act as a technical advisor to production, sales organization, and after-sales
- Contribute to improvements in processes, routines, and working methods within R&D
- Ensure that sustainability and environmental goals are integrated into product development
- Participate in collaborations with research institutes and testing facilities
Here, you will work broadly and practically – while also contributing strategically to the company's technical future.
Who are you?
You are a driven and responsible engineer with a passion for development and innovation. You thrive in technically complex environments and enjoy seeing your ideas become real products.
We see that you have:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent technical field
- At least 3 years of experience as a designer, preferably in product development or manufacturing industry
- Experience in project management, calculations, and technical documentation
- Good knowledge of CAD, calculation, and FEM programs
- Very good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written
It is an advantage if you have experience in manufacturing, CE marking, or programs such as Inventor, SimSolid, Nastran, SkyCiv, and MathCad.
As a person, you are proactive, analytical, and structured, with a natural drive to take things from idea to reality. You have a creative and problem-solving streak and a genuine curiosity for new technology. At the same time, you are collaborative and thrive in an environment where ideas are shared, solutions are found together, and development is driven forward. You work meticulously and with quality awareness, and you have a clear desire to both contribute and develop – technically as well as personally. You see opportunities rather than obstacles and are motivated by making a difference, both for the product and for the team.
