Description

We are looking for a staff member for the Sampling department at Sahlgrenska University Hospital (SU), located at the Children's Sampling unit at Östra Hospital.

If you have an interest and the prerequisites, there is also the opportunity for a role as section leader at the Children's Sampling unit.

The Clinical Chemistry area, of which sampling is a part, is an environmentally certified and accredited laboratory. We in the sampling department place great value on quality and being the best at sampling and pre-analysis!

At the Children's Sampling unit, six employees work, and we also borrow colleagues from our adult sampling units. We are of different professional categories: nursing assistants, lab technicians, lab assistants, nurses, and biomedical analysts.

At the Children's Sampling unit, we primarily perform capillary and venous sampling but also sweat tests. We also offer a needle school for children who are afraid of needles/injections. We also visit services at the children's hospital and health centers to teach about children's sampling.

We work weekdays from 07:00 to 15:45. Since we have many patients in the morning, it is necessary that you can start at 07:00 every day.

The role of section leader is a leadership assignment!

You will be responsible for ensuring that we work in the best way to achieve our goals in patient safety, job satisfaction, and quality!

Specifically, this means working with ensuring that routines and checklists are used, the right competencies are present, training of new employees occurs, and that the operation develops. You will have many contacts with other departments in the hospital, participate in interviews of new employees, and take part in annual quality reviews. You will have the support of the other four section leaders and the unit manager, who together represent the unit's management group.

Together with the unit manager and the other section leaders, you will be responsible for the operation of the unit, which means that you will have a mobile job, as our unit is located on several hospital sites.

Qualifications

You who are applying have a Swedish license as a biomedical analyst. We are looking for someone who is a cheerful, secure, and flexible person who enjoys talking to children and making their healthcare experience a little better!

The work requires good interaction and communication skills as you will have a lot of internal contact with various healthcare units. This means you need to speak fluent Swedish and be able to write texts in Swedish.

You need to have good judgment and be able to independently take responsibility for your tasks.

Other requirements include having good and documented experience in both capillary and venous sampling in children and good experience in sample handling. It is an advantage if you are quick to learn and have the ability to lead others.
