Platoon Leader at the Supply Platoon

Do you want to be an important part of building Sweden's basic capabilities in times of war and crisis? As an employee at the 311th Staff and Logistics Company, you will serve at the 31st Air Base Battalion, the largest unit of the Helicopter Wing, and thus become an important part of Sweden's defense. We are growing and looking for someone who wants to work as a Platoon Leader at the Supply Platoon.

311th Staff and Logistics Company

The 311th Staff and Logistics Company consists of company management, command platoon, supply platoon, logistics platoon, and medical platoon. The company's task is to establish and operate communication at the airbase and be responsible for logistics at the airbase, such as transportation, fuel, catering, and medical care.

The Supply Platoon consists of a fuel group for ground vehicles, a cooking group, and a mechanic group with expertise in vehicles, weapons, and generators. Overall, the platoon is responsible for the majority of internal logistics at the airbase.

All leadership positions in the company are career-preparatory for further service in the Armed Forces. The opportunities to develop within the function through internal training and courses are significant.

Main Responsibilities

As a platoon leader, your main task is to lead the various groups and ensure that higher management's tasks are solved, which includes meeting the most critical logistics needs of the entire airbase, such as fuel, food, and technical services. This requires you to have a good ability to plan and manage multiple tasks simultaneously, as the platoon's units have both dispersed functions and operate in different geographical locations. In the platoon management, you have a deputy, two logistics officers, and a quartermaster whom you lead and who support you in carrying out the platoon's tasks.

You are also responsible for ensuring that the staff maintains and develops competence at both the individual and group levels within the various functions.

Your main responsibilities will also include:

  • Managing your own staff.
  • Planning and following up on operations.
  • Developing the platoon's capabilities.
  • Personnel administration.

In the wartime organization, you will serve in a position determined in consultation with the commander based on your own experience and interests.

Qualifications

  • Swedish citizen
  • Driving license B
  • Approved officer training (OF)
  • Meets the Armed Forces' physical requirements (FM FysS)

Meritorious

  • Military driver's license (Lptb, tptb, minibus, C and/or CE)
  • Logistics experience within the Armed Forces
  • Experience as a platoon/troop leader

Personal Qualities

As a person, you are meticulous and reliable. You have a high work capacity and can handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Furthermore, you have good leadership qualities and can motivate and develop subordinate staff. You are also empathetic, enjoy working in a team, and strive to develop together with others.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

The Armed Forces' Helicopter Wing is a unit with both land and naval operational orientation that can operate in missions in Sweden and internationally.

Helicopter support is requested by many. For example, for personnel, material, or medical transport, command, reconnaissance, or surveillance missions. The Helicopter Wing often participates in missions and exercises with other units but also supports society in various crisis situations.

Our operations span across Sweden, the variety of tasks, and the size of the wing with over 950 employees provide a variation in work and opportunities for personal development. The majority of the Helicopter Wing is located in Linköping (Malmen), where we also manage Malmen Airport and Linköping Garrison, with two large units in Luleå (Kallax) and Ronneby (Kallinge).
