Service Technician for the Technology and Service Department

Workplace Description - Med-service

The Med-service unit is the service organization of the Faculty of Medicine and provides services to all activities within the faculty.

At the unit, we constantly strive to create conditions for job satisfaction and participation for all employees. Currently, the unit has just over 30 employees.

The Med-service unit is divided into the following departments:

  • Department of Property and Security
  • Department of Technology and Service
  • Department of Unit Support

We are now looking for a new service technician for the Technology and Service Department located at BMC in Lund. A probationary period may apply.

The Technology and Service Department is responsible for operations in technology and service at the Biomedical Center (BMC, Lund) and Clinical Research Centre (CRC, Malmö). The department is looking for a service technician to complement their group of 16 service technicians and operating engineers.

The department's mission is to carry out maintenance, property management, and delivery of services according to a delineation list towards both external parties (e.g., property owners) and the faculty's internal operations (e.g., departments). Furthermore, the department conducts inspections, maintenance, and repairs of instruments and equipment according to service agreements with users. The department works with preventive and corrective maintenance and receives fault reports and orders from the operations within its area of responsibility.

As of January 1, 2026, Med-service and the Technology and Service Department will merge into the faculty's new service organization "Operational Service".

Job Responsibilities

As a service technician, you will primarily work with the following tasks: service and fault reporting of medical technical equipment, lock repairs, and troubleshooting and repair of door environments. Property management, some goods handling, fault reporting and orders, some invoice management, gas management, inventory and storage management, and work with the unit's fire plan. The work as a service technician involves many contacts and a high degree of service towards the center's operations, and is largely done in collaboration with our other service organization.

On-call duty every 5-6 weeks is included in the work, which means that when you are on call, you must be able to arrive at the workplace within 60 minutes.

Qualifications

The following is required for the position:

  • completed education at least at the high school level
  • at least 5–10 years of work experience as a service technician or equivalent experience assessed by the employer
  • good ability to express yourself in Swedish and English, both orally and in writing
  • good computer skills and documented experience with Windows and Microsoft Office
  • driver's license class B for manual transmission vehicles

Great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities. The tasks require that you have good initiative, organizational skills, and teamwork abilities. It is important that you have a well-developed sense of service as well as a professional and positive demeanor. We appreciate that you approach your tasks responsibly and have a strong desire to promote a good team spirit.

Meritorious for the position are:

  • education as a property manager from vocational high school/vocational training
  • experience working with medical research equipment
  • experience working with locks and alarms

Other
