Job Description

AFRY is making significant investments in upcoming railway projects in the Nordic region, and we are prepared for investments in both maintenance and new construction. Our railway organization is currently national, with offices from Malmö to Luleå, and through close collaboration between different technical areas, we together form a strong whole. In Sweden, we currently have about 120 employees in the areas of BEST+KM and Railway Systems.  

Section Mid currently consists of about 30 employees distributed across several locations, primarily in Mälardalen. The employees are led by 2 group managers who report to the section manager.  

We are now looking for a group manager for the group based in our offices in Västerås, Eskilstuna, etc. As a group manager with us, you will have personnel responsibility for a group of about 15 people. You will have a role with great variation, the opportunity for many contacts and customer meetings, with responsibility for the individual development and work situation of the group’s personnel. You will participate in the section's operations, including strategies, profitability, marketing, quality, personnel, and competence development. Your managerial role will also involve working part-time as a consultant, preferably as a project leader or technical specialist. You will be part of the management team of Section Mid.

The work will primarily take place at the station location in Västerås. Some travel may occur in the role. There is also the possibility of remote work in consultation with the section manager.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who is passionate about team development, customer satisfaction, business acumen, and has a strong interest in the section's services! We are all team players, and in the role of group manager, it is required that you are attentive, curious, and collaborative. We are looking for someone who is eager to see others develop and build sustainable teams.

For this role, we see that you have several years of experience in the railway industry and are well acquainted with the issues within the technical areas of track, electrical, signaling, telecommunications, ducting, and power. We believe that you are a university or civil engineer or have acquired equivalent experience from other sources. We prefer that you have previous experience as a consultant, but if you have worked on the contractor or client side, that is also of interest.   

You have previously demonstrated good leadership skills and can naturally engage and motivate. We see that you have good social competence and enjoy being challenged both technically and in terms of business and leadership. You have a business-driven mindset, are relationship-building, and it is a significant advantage if you have an established network in the industry. Of course, you see yourself as a team player and enjoy sharing your knowledge with both customers and colleagues. For this role, we also see that you are fluent in Swedish and English and have an easy time expressing yourself in both speech and writing.
