Job Responsibilities

Special transport services with specialized vehicles are part of the special transport section. We currently have 65 employees within Special Transport, of which 52 work as transport drivers. The section is led by the section manager, who is assisted by three team leaders, transport coordinators, and a technician. The team leaders have personnel, budget, and work environment responsibilities, and your immediate supervisor will be one of the three team leaders.

We provide school transport and special transport for Malmö residents who use wheelchairs. We are responsible for ensuring that our passengers can travel at any hour of the day, seven days a week. This means that working hours are scheduled for both day and evening shifts, with duty every fourth weekend. Special Transport has a total of 43 specialized vehicles (buses).

Most journeys take place within the Malmö region, but there are also trips to other parts of Skåne. Stair climbing is part of the job responsibilities; stair climbers are aids that attach to the wheelchair to help ascend/descend stairs when there is no elevator.

As a transport driver, you will:

Drive special transport to day activities and recreational activities for Malmö residents who use wheelchairs.
Drive school trips to preschools, primary schools, and high schools.

The job as a transport driver is physically demanding to some extent, as you will need to go up and down stairs and secure wheelchairs in limited space on the bus.

Qualifications

We are now looking for someone who wants to work as a transport driver with us and has a focus on people. This means you are good at building positive relationships with others, both children and adults. Customer focus is a given for you, and you perform your tasks with high quality, i.e., safe driving with good service, regardless of the task you are performing.

We are looking for someone who has:

Completed high school education
Driving license D category/bus license
Professional competence certificate (YKB)
Good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written
Work experience in passenger transport

If you also have any of the following, it is an advantage:

Experience working with people with disabilities
Experience working with children
Experience as a companion
Taxi driver license
At least 2 years of work experience in passenger transport.
