Department Manager for Demand-Responsive Transport at Östgötatrafiken
Are you looking for an exciting and developing role where you can make a difference every day? Östgötatrafiken is seeking a strategic and committed department manager with the capacity to drive and develop operations for the transport services: Demand-Responsive Transport, School Transport, Local Transport, Medical Transport, and Archipelago Transport.
Östgötatrafiken is owned by Region Östergötland and is tasked with providing safe and efficient public transport for all of Östergötland, in close cooperation with municipalities, authorities, transport companies, and other internal departments at Östgötatrafiken. Demand-Responsive Transport is a central part of this mission, handling approximately 1.4 million journeys per year. The department has ten professional employees, and as department manager, you will play a key role within Östgötatrafiken.

Responsibilities
As Department Manager, you have overall responsibility for leading and developing the operations and your employees. You play a central role in achieving set goals and conducting operations that deliver high customer satisfaction and are financially efficient.
Main tasks:
- Operational responsibility for Demand-Responsive Transport.
- Responsibility for personnel issues, work environment, finances, budget work, and performance monitoring.
- Actively work to strengthen and develop cooperation with various stakeholders such as municipalities, Region Östergötland, suppliers, and various interest groups.
- Responsible for monitoring contracts and business models to ensure quality and customer satisfaction.
- Regularly participate in various collaboration meetings with Östgötatrafiken's external partners.
- Develop and drive digitalization efforts forward.
- Manage and further develop the operational support systems together with the employees in the department.
- Monitor the external environment and implement new national guidelines and trends.
- Create conditions for employee engagement by fostering openness in the work climate and methods.
In the role of department manager, you report to the CEO of Östgötatrafiken and are part of the management team. The work in the management team is focused on common issues, which means you are engaged in the overall results of the organization and actively contribute to its development.
Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you need to have:
- Many years of relevant work experience, preferably from similar roles.
- Relevant academic education, preferably in areas such as law, economics, or political science.
- At least five years of current managerial experience, with personnel, budget, and work environment responsibilities.
- Experience leading larger groups towards set goals and assignments.
- Experience in politically governed operations.
- Experience in strategic planning, procurement, and complex contracts.
- Good administrative skills and familiarity with operational support systems.
- Experience in digitalization efforts.
- Ability to express yourself well in Swedish, both verbally and in writing.
- Good analytical skills.
It is advantageous if you also have:
- Good experience in management team work.
- Participated in leadership development programs.
- Some form of media training.
The role requires a strong ability to create and maintain good relationships both internally and externally, and you need to have an outgoing, unpretentious, and development-oriented approach.
You value accountability and results, and work systematically with follow-up against both financial and operational goals.
Your leadership is stable, courageous, and adaptable to situations. You have the ability to lead through change, see opportunities, and dare to try new working methods that develop the organization. You are a skilled communicator who builds trust, motivates, and creates engagement and participation among your employees and colleagues.
