The rescue service plays a leading and coordinating role in the municipality's safety and security work, and we are now looking for staff.

To be eligible for a part-time firefighter position in Gamleby, you must be able to reach the fire station in Gamleby in less than 5 minutes from both your home and your workplace.

When an alarm goes off while you are on standby, the response time is five minutes, meaning the time from when the alarm sounds until you should be on your way to the rescue mission. Therefore, it is important that you live in the area and preferably work there.

In our part-time departments, there are four groups responsible for 24/7 readiness.

The rescue service is looking for staff for pool positions or regular positions. A pool position means that you assist regular staff at certain times but do not have your own on-call duty. When regular positions become available, those with pool positions will receive a fixed schedule. A regular position means that you are responsible for readiness for a total of seven days over a four-week period.

As a part-time firefighter/standby rescue personnel (RIB), you will work in a team with essential community functions and varied tasks. As a RIB employee, you have another main employment and main employer. You will be on standby and respond to alarms, and in addition, you will participate in training for about 50 hours a year.

We are looking for someone who has a good ability to work in a team, is stress-resistant, and practically oriented. You have a high degree of personal maturity. You are self-sufficient, flexible, and resilient in challenging circumstances. It is also important that you are good at communicating with people and are service-oriented.

Experience Requirements

No prior knowledge is required; the person hired will receive the training required for the position. The person who becomes relevant for the position must be medically approved by our occupational health service to be employed. At the beginning of the employment, it is mandatory to undergo competency training for part-time firefighters. The basic training lasts about 4 weeks. You will receive a salary during the training period. After that, you will be able to start working and be on standby. During the first year, you should be prepared to obtain a C driver's license and pursue further training.

Knowledge Requirements

Good oral and written skills in the Swedish language. Must be able to swim.

Other Requirements

Good physical condition. Health to meet the statutory health requirements for firefighters. Ability to obtain a C driver's license.
