About the Unit

The 1st Naval Base Battalion is based in Karlskrona and is one of the Naval Base's combat units.

The 1st Naval Base Battalion consists of a staff and five companies whose overall mission is to support naval units with logistics, both from land and at sea. Support is provided both in daily operations at the regular base and at temporarily established bases. The unit trains soldiers and sailors in logistics, ground combat, escort, reconnaissance, communication, and technical services.

Main Responsibilities:

The battalion quartermaster (BatKvM) is part of the battalion staff support department and primarily works with the battalion's internal logistics. The work includes warehouse responsibility, supply management, inventory, record maintenance in support systems, and material supply for the combat unit.

The BatKvM is the battalion's foremost representative in logistics and represents the battalion at meetings and preparations, as well as participates in studies, development, and procurement of material systems. The needs of the battalion's infrastructure are also handled with the support of the BatKvM.

The work requires the ability to operate independently as well as collaboratively with others within the function. Participation in exercises both in regular grouping and in the field is a natural part of the job.

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications:

• Officer's degree
• Military rank at least SO6
• Good physical ability
• Driving license B

You have a good situational adaptability in both leadership and teamwork, good stress resilience and endurance, as well as a good ability to improvise.

A prerequisite for good results and quality in the work is that you have a communicative ability, social competence where you are good at collaborating and taking responsibility for your work. You are unpretentious and enjoy adapting to emerging situations and have an easy time switching between different tasks.

You often work together with others in a team but also independently, which requires both independence and teamwork skills. You are meticulous and have a structured working method and the ability to change pace when necessary.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

DESIRABLE

• Logistics training
• Training or previous service as a quartermaster
• Knowledge of material tracking systems PRIO and LIFT
• Organizational development
• Good knowledge of MS Office
• Experience in logistics during missions
• Military driving license, heavier category (C/CE)
• Driving license for forklift, wheel loader, telescopic loader
• Hazardous goods training (ADR, FM FG 1000)

The overall task of the Naval Base is to support the naval units with logistics in the form of transport, basing, surveillance, and medical care, both at home and abroad. The Naval Base has its headquarters in Karlskrona but operates where needed, for example in Berga/Muskö, south of Stockholm, and in Gothenburg. Other major tasks for the Naval Base include monitoring Sweden's 2700 km long coastline with territorial waters.
