Assistant Nurse in Addiction Care

Our operations consist of three outpatient care units, a LARO reception, an addiction reception, and a low-threshold reception. In this role, you will work across all units. Together, we welcome people who need help managing problems related to alcohol and addictive substances, gambling disorder, and medication dependence. We also work with medication-assisted rehabilitation for people with opioid dependence and to reduce the spread of infectious diseases. The goal is to contribute to a healthier and longer life for our patients. The units are located at Södertull, Gävle Hospital, and at a branch reception at the psychiatry in Hudiksvall.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Addiction care provides support and treatment for individuals with substance use, gambling addiction, and medication dependence. You will work in a multidisciplinary team consisting of nurses, nursing assistants, doctors, social workers, and midwives.

At the low-threshold reception, patients are given the opportunity to exchange used syringes for clean ones, receive counseling and supportive conversations for drug-free living, as well as access to testing, vaccinations, and hepatitis treatment. Here, contact with a midwife and assistance in reaching authorities and support organizations is also offered.

At the LARO reception, you will work according to the National Board of Health and Welfare's guidelines for medication-assisted treatment for opioid dependence, national guidelines, and the care and intervention program for substance abuse and dependence. Here, you will participate in assessments, care planning, and follow-ups during LARO treatments. You will also conduct supportive conversations and collaborate with, for example, social services and correctional services to ensure comprehensive care.

At the addiction reception, you will work independently based on evidence-based methods in close collaboration with colleagues. You will regularly collaborate with healthcare, social services, treatment homes, and employers to support patients with substance use disorder, gambling disorder, and those in need of medication tapering. The role includes telephone counseling, digital care services, motivational interviewing methods, and some delegated medication distribution.

We are currently in the process of bringing addiction care closer to patients with more mobile working methods to enable preventive measures in places other than necessarily at the receptions.

QUALIFICATIONS

To thrive as an assistant nurse at the receptions, you need to be flexible and enjoy a dynamic working method. The role requires you to have the ability to collaborate well with patients, their relatives, colleagues, and partners. You are confident in making independent assessments and take responsibility for driving the work forward, even when it means prioritizing and quickly shifting focus to meet the day's needs. With a calm and controlled approach, you handle challenging situations and easily create a safe and respectful interaction. You listen to both patients and colleagues, are attentive and communicative, and value constructive dialogues and feedback to strengthen collaboration. You have an interest in developing care and nursing with a focus on psychiatry and addiction care.

In the role of assistant nurse, you should

• be a trained assistant nurse
• have a B driver's license.

It is an advantage if you have previous experience in psychiatric care or addiction care as well as training in CBT, MI, or ÅP.
