The Biogas Plant

Do you want to work in a diverse role with advanced technology where you contribute to a circular Uppsala? We are now looking for an operations technician for our biogas plant. It is a process industry that is technically advanced and contains a lot of varied tasks.

At the Biogas Plant, we produce biogas from Uppsala's food waste and supply a large part of the city buses with fuel. We have the entire chain from waste to finished fuel in the tank nozzle.

About the Position

As an operations technician, you will work with monitoring the operation of our facilities, process, gas upgrading, and tank station facilities. You will also work with repairs and maintenance tasks, as well as cleaning and routine administration.

In the biogas plant, we receive about 43,000 tons of organic waste from households and businesses. Almost half of the food waste comes from residents of Uppsala municipality. We also receive slaughterhouse waste from operations. As an operations technician, you need to be prepared to work in the environment of the process plant, which means you need to handle the waste.

You will report to the section manager for biogas. Normal working hours are 07-16 Monday to Friday, including public holidays that fall on these days. There is also scheduled evening work every eighth week. The role includes on-call duty every eighth week, which requires a response time of a maximum of 45 minutes.

Qualifications

• High school diploma in a technical field
• Experience with various technical systems such as machinery, pneumatics, plumbing, electrical, and automation
• Driver's license B

Meritorious

• Experience in mechanical maintenance is highly meritorious
• Experience from workshops, process industry, agriculture, or similar
• Forklift and loader license

Additional Information

A large part of our operations is classified as essential services because we supply Sweden's fourth largest city with drinking water. For this position, a security clearance will be conducted prior to employment. You should also be prepared to be assigned to a war placement within the framework of Uppsala Water and Waste's role in total defense. Uppsala Water applies a 6-month probationary period.
