The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are constructing new facilities, renovating existing ones, and expanding, and are now looking for more team members. Job Responsibilities

As a correctional officer, you will be part of a team where you have daily contact with the clients. Work at the remand centre is often routine-based and focused on care and security tasks. Clients can be remanded for long periods without meeting anyone other than their lawyer and the staff at the remand centre, which places special demands on you as a correctional officer.

Qualifications

Your personal qualities are important to us. As a correctional officer, you need to be confident, stable, and have good self-awareness. Since you, together with your colleagues, run the operations, you need to have good teamwork skills and the ability to communicate clearly. Your professional practice requires good judgment and integrity. You must have a physical condition that enables you to act physically when the situation requires it.

We are looking for candidates who have:

• A complete upper secondary education or other education combined with work experience that the Swedish Prison and Probation Service deems relevant (in certain areas of operation)
• Good knowledge of the Swedish language in both speech and writing
• Good computer skills

It is advantageous if you have:

• Knowledge in relevant areas, such as behavioral science, criminology, psychiatry, law, and conflict management
• Work experience, including seasonal work, hourly employment, or self-employment. Internships and volunteer work are not equivalent to employment
• Relevant language skills

We set high demands on our employees' awareness of security and confidentiality. Security checks will precede decisions on employment. Some positions are classified as security positions, and a security investigation with a registry check will be conducted before a decision on employment is made. For positions with higher security classification, you need to be a Swedish citizen, but having a foreign background is welcome. The position may involve wartime placement at the Swedish Prison and Probation Service. Probationary employment may be applied.
