Department of Information Technology is looking for teaching assistants
The Department of Information Technology has a leading position in both research and education at all levels.
We are currently the third largest department at Uppsala University, with over 350 employees, including 120 teachers and 120 doctoral students. Approximately 5000 undergraduate students take one or more courses at the department each year. We are now looking for students who want to work as teaching assistants during periods 1 and 2.
Job Responsibilities
Participation in teaching in one or more of the listed courses below. Participation in teaching includes, for example, attending laboratories and lectures, grading assignments, answering students' questions, and supervising student projects. Courses marked SVE are taught in Swedish, and those marked ENG are taught in English. Applications are accepted in Uppsala University's recruitment system. If you have not been a teaching assistant before, the job responsibilities also include a mandatory introduction day.
Qualifications
To be employed as a teaching assistant, it is required that you are admitted to undergraduate or advanced level education. Employment as a teaching assistant is regulated by the Higher Education Ordinance Chapter 5. The applicant must demonstrate good academic results, particularly in the area of the course they will assist with, as well as very good knowledge of Swedish (only for courses taught in Swedish) and English in both spoken and written forms.
Desirable/meritorious
Previous experience from participation in teaching relevant courses at the university level is particularly meritorious. Experience with relevant IT systems (Studium) is desirable, as well as good knowledge of Uppsala University's organization.
Application Procedure
The application should include a letter where the applicant briefly describes their experience in teaching, language skills, and knowledge (e.g., study certificates). The application should also include which courses the applicant is interested in and an estimate of the number of hours they wish to work (per course and period, with the total hours summing to 30, 45, 60, 90, or 120). Please also attach your registration certificate.
About the Employment
The employment is temporary, until November 16, 2025, or February 1, 2026, depending on which period(s) you work, according to HF Chapter 5 § 12. The extent is between 3 and 23%. Start date is August 18, 2025, or October 27, 2025, depending on which period(s) you work, or by agreement. Place of employment: Uppsala.
