The role of electrical designer

Using mainly CAD programs, you will design electrical systems for low and medium voltage switchgear, transformers, relay and control equipment, as well as alarms and monitoring based on input from a salesperson or project manager. In the role of electrical designer, you will collaborate with our mechanical designers, as they provide you with the station drawings in which you will incorporate the electrical components. Holtab's electrical designers create single-line and circuit diagrams for both simple and more complex orders, which means it can take anywhere from a few hours to several days to draw a diagram. Through your work, you contribute to quality assurance of orders to meet customer expectations. Producing construction documents that are approved by the customer before production starts is part of the job.

Within Holtab, we have two manufacturing divisions, Product and Project. In the Product division, we manufacture more standardized products, while in the Project division, we produce larger and more technically demanding products. Regardless of which division you work in, you will act as a technical support and have close collaboration with other departments within Holtab; sales, business support, project managers, and production. An important part of your role will be to meet future needs for power transmission solutions. For example, smart grids, where you will assist our salespeople in customer relations and represent the company in technical matters.

For electrical designers, the main dialogue regarding an order occurs internally, but depending on the division, there may occasionally be some customer contact. You may also participate in meetings when the customer visits the factory. The solutions that our electrical designers create are assembled and installed in our own factories in Tingsryd, Lidhult, and Olofström. The office is adjacent to production, which gives you unique insight into the entire process and allows you to see your work grow from drawing to finished product.

Who we are looking for

To thrive and succeed in this role, we see that you have a post-secondary electrical education. If you also have experience in electrical design within a production context, we consider it a significant merit. However, we are also curious about those who come directly from a relevant education.

We place great emphasis on your personal qualities and are looking for someone who has a good ability to prioritize and manage parallel projects. As a person, you are technically interested, cooperative, and have good communication skills.
