Åmells was founded in 1920 and is today a world leader in Scandinavian art. Our gallery in Stockholm has long been an established meeting place for those who want to trade in quality art.

We specialize in Scandinavian art from the 18th century to the present day, offering painting, sculpture, photography, and contemporary art.

The gallery annually presents a number of curated solo and group exhibitions with works for sale.

We have experts in a wide range of areas, and our knowledge and experience enable us to offer the best possible service to visitors and customers.

Your role

As a Curator at Åmells Art Gallery, you work broadly with our collection from an art historical perspective. You play a key role in the production of our exhibitions; from planning and composition to research, catalog production, and ultimately implementation. You come up with exhibition proposals regarding themes, content, and new perspectives on art and its history. You will mainly work with our own exhibitions in the gallery but also with external ones.

A large part of the role is to write texts for our objects and search for provenance. You will produce material to varying extents for catalogs, exhibitions, and specific objects. The role involves liaising with museums when lending objects and giving lectures both in the gallery and externally. You are responsible for our reference library and are expected to contribute with art historical expertise.

Our office premises are located adjacent to our gallery, where there are always colleagues to socialize with.

Your profile

We see that you have an academic education in art history and at least 10 years of relevant work experience, with documented experience in writing texts. You have a solid background with extensive knowledge of art and history. You have experience in similar tasks and feel confident in the role of curator.

You are fluent in Swedish and English and have experience expressing yourself both verbally and in writing.

You have a comprehensive understanding of art history and its connection to societal history, knowledge that you are happy to share.

As a person, you are team-oriented, serious, and loyal. We are looking for someone who can see the big picture and feels confident in their role. You are interested in learning new things and are open to development and change.
