Join us – be an important part of our energy future

At the division of Network, you will help expand and maintain the transmission network – a crucial part of Sweden's electrification. To succeed in our socially important mission, we need to build 300 kilometers of lines and commission 20 stations each year. Together, we create a stable and sustainable energy infrastructure for the future.

About the position

There is a significant shortage of knowledge in EMF, both at Svenska kraftnät and throughout the power industry. With us, you will be an important link in the knowledge chain and contribute to preserving knowledge during the generational shift the industry is facing.

The Electromagnetic Environment Technology unit consists of eight dedicated and competent technical specialists and a technical project manager with technical breadth whose primary task is to support Svenska kraftnät with specialist competence in EMF, grounding, and induction. The unit supports both project and management activities within our organization. In grounding, we set requirements for the design of today's transmission network and look forward to future technical solutions for the grounding systems of the transmission network through our technical guidelines. In EMF, we work with risk analyses from a work environment perspective (primarily electric fields) and public exposure (mainly magnetic fields).

As an employee with us, you have great freedom under responsibility to shape your work and professional development. For example, you may work with electric fields and magnetic fields in work environment issues as well as in matters concerning or arising from the public. There are also opportunities for work within technical committees and collaboration with international actors.

In this role, your focus will be on electric and magnetic fields; issues that are of great importance in Svenska kraftnät's facilities, both for stations and lines. To ensure a safe working environment and a safe environment for the public around our facilities, your expertise will be invaluable for both the management and maintenance of existing facilities and for investments in new construction projects. There are also some questions regarding radiated electromagnetic compatibility (radiated EMC) where your expertise will be valuable to us. Your daily work will include a variety of tasks such as:

  • Developing strategies, routines, and guidelines regarding EMF/EMC.
  • Conducting risk analyses regarding EMF/EMC.
  • Calculations within EMF/EMC, and if necessary, performing measurements in the field.
  • Supporting your colleagues as maintenance engineers, project managers, and work environment engineers, as well as our partners in the field of EMF.
  • Providing the public with information about the environment around our facilities.
  • Monitoring developments and participating in national and international bodies, groups, and work regarding EMF.

There are also questions regarding corona noise.

About you

You will join a tight-knit team where we rely heavily on collaboration with each other. We work in a structured and analytical manner to jointly drive the EMF work forward, both internally and externally. The unit and its members must be able to stand up for the work and decisions made, both internally and towards the public during events such as Open Houses.

Requirements:

We are looking for someone with a master's degree or higher education in electrical engineering, technical physics, or equivalent. Alternatively, equivalent experience has been gained in other ways.

  • At least five (5) years of work experience in power engineering or EMF/EMC where technical calculations have been part of your tasks.
  • You speak and understand Swedish and English in both speech and writing.

Meritorious

  • Experience/knowledge in calculations of magnetic fields and electric fields.
  • Experience in induction, audible noise, or RI (Radio Interference) from high-voltage installations is also meritorious.
  • Practical experience in measurements can be beneficial.
  • Experience with COMSOL.
  • Driver's license (B).

Good to know

  • The position is located at one of our offices in Stockholm/Sundbyberg, Västerås, Gothenburg, Sundsvall, Luleå, or Sollefteå.
  • Possibility for remote work up to 50% #LI-hybrid.
  • Travel is required in this position (including to various Open Houses).
  • The application deadline is 2025-05-05. We do not accept personal letters in connection with your application.
  • The position is a permanent employment.
