Chief Engineer in General Maintenance Equipment

Do you have an engineering background and experience in technical system work? Do you take initiative and have the ability to build new relationships? Would you like to work on qualified projects aimed at making Sweden and the world safer? Then you might be the one we are looking for.

About the position

As a chief engineer in the unit for general maintenance equipment, you are part of the technical management for procurement, maintenance, and development projects of material for the Armed Forces. You work closely with the product manager in the technical system and design work, and support the system engineers in their work with systems such as tool equipment, air environment equipment, and the design of new container solutions – simply put, equipment that makes the Armed Forces' material last longer and contributes to a stronger defense over time.

In this role, you support the area's product managers with goal-setting work, configuration, and lifecycle plans. You are also responsible for research and technology development where additive manufacturing (3D printing) is an area that is currently being worked on a lot, as well as for the development of production plans. As a chief engineer, you represent the material area and actively work to maintain a good system structure of the equipment and associated documentation in FMV's support systems.

Another significant part of the job is to guide and support the unit's system engineers in the overall design and product work. This means a leading role in projects and support for the unit's system engineers but no personnel responsibility.

The position is located in Stockholm.

About you

You are a civil or university engineer, have military officer training, or equivalent competence acquired in another way that we assess as equivalent. If you have completed training in system design, configuration management, or requirements management, we consider it an advantage.

Furthermore, you have several years of relevant experience in technical system work, and it is an advantage if you have participated in goal-setting and requirements specification of systems. Experience with additive manufacturing is a plus, as well as work with Integrated Logistics Support (ILS), technical documentation, and/or systems safety.

We also value knowledge in technical requirements specification and verification of requirements, as well as knowledge of materials in the logistics area and the Armed Forces' organization and function. Experience working in government administration as well as working with the Armed Forces and FMV's material process is advantageous but not a requirement.

The role requires good knowledge of Swedish and English in both speech and writing, as well as good knowledge of MS Office. Since the position may involve travel both within Sweden and abroad, a B driver's license is required.

As a person, you take initiative and responsibility and drive projects and collaborations forward. At the same time, you enjoy working together with colleagues in different roles and are good at adapting your communication style based on the recipient. You are also forward-thinking and have a natural ability to create and maintain good relationships. Furthermore, you have a quality focus and are meticulous and concerned that the work meets set goals and standards. You are also structured and efficient in how you plan and organize your work. The right person is important to us, which is why we place great emphasis on personal qualities.
