Your Responsibilities

As a university lecturer at the Department of Information Technology (IIT), you will have an exciting and varied role. The position includes research and professional development time as well as other duties, which corresponds to 30% according to the applicable working time agreement.

Your main responsibilities will include both research and teaching. You will teach alongside colleagues within the department's programs in informatics, which includes courses at both undergraduate and advanced levels. At the undergraduate level, teaching primarily occurs within the Bachelor's programs in System Architecture with a focus on software development and the System Science and Data Economics programs. At the advanced level, teaching and course development primarily focus on informatics. Your teaching efforts will particularly emphasize courses related to system development methods, digital innovation, business development, business processes, organizational theory, and data analysis. Teaching at the undergraduate level is mainly conducted in Swedish, while teaching at the advanced level is primarily in English.

The department's policy is that employees should also participate in research projects related to the department's research groups whenever possible. We have two research groups: InnovationLab, which primarily focuses on studying and developing digital innovations, and ComputerScienceLab, where the research is directed towards intelligent data analysis of large datasets. A large part of our research is focused on digital innovation, which includes both digital artifacts, data-driven processes, and organizational aspects. The research is often externally funded and carried out in project form with several collaborators in cooperation with the business community.

An important part of the position is to further develop the research environment, primarily through your own research, but also through supervising doctoral students and creating applications for external research funding. Building collaboration with national and international networks is also a natural part of the work.

Your Qualifications

The following qualifications are required for the position:

  • PhD or equivalent scientific competence in informatics or another relevant subject for the position's focus
  • Demonstrated pedagogical skills
  • Good and documented knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written
  • Documented experience in teaching informatics/information systems
  • Documented experience in course responsibility and development of course materials
  • Scientific competence in the subject area demonstrated through scientific publications, conference participation, participation in research collaborations, and other commitments in the scientific community such as peer review or expert assignments
  • Ability to contribute to the development of the department's research in informatics.

It is meritorious to have documented experience in:

  • Teaching and supervision at the doctoral level
  • Seeking and obtaining external research funding
  • International relations and contacts with foreign universities
  • Collaboration with the business community and/or public administration
  • Responsibility for development work within undergraduate education
  • Practical experience in software development for various platforms
  • Professional experience from the business community relevant to the position
  • Relevant teaching in software development.

Great importance will be placed on personal suitability and the ability to collaborate within a teaching team.

A general eligibility requirement for a permanent position as a teacher is completion of higher education pedagogical training equivalent to 10 weeks of full-time studies, or equivalent competence. An employee who lacks higher education pedagogical training can undergo the training during the first two years of employment.
