Job Advertisement: Researcher in Wireless Power Transfer and IoT Security

At the Department of Computer and Electrical Engineering, education is conducted in the fields of computer engineering, electronics, electrical engineering, and sound production. Research at the department takes place at the research center Sensible Things that Communicate (www.miun.se/stc (http://www.miun.se/stc)) and focuses on sensor-based systems and services for use within the Internet of Things and artificial intelligence.

Job Responsibilities

You will work within a research project focusing on wireless power transfer, zero-energy IoT, and security in future 6G networks.

The job responsibilities include conducting research and developing self-adaptive algorithms for wireless power distribution as well as security mechanisms against energy-based attacks in massive 6G IoT networks. The research encompasses modeling, simulation, and experimental validation of distributed power transmitters and IoT devices using edge computing, intelligent reflecting surfaces (IRS), and theories within communication and optimization. Special emphasis is placed on the development of defense mechanisms against energy-based attacks and optimization of power transfer in networks with zero-energy devices.

You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary research team, participate in research projects, and publish results in international journals and conferences. Collaboration with industry partners and research institutes is an important part of the work, and teaching opportunities may arise depending on the scope of the project.

Qualifications

The position requires a PhD in electrical engineering, embedded systems, computer engineering, or a related field. An excellent publication record in leading IEEE/ACM journals and conferences, particularly in wireless power transfer, energy harvesting, IoT systems, and related areas, is a requirement.

Assessment Criteria

Applicants will be assessed based on their scientific competence in relevant areas. Previous experience in collaborative research projects and applications for research funding, as well as the ability to contribute to the development of innovative security solutions, are considered advantageous. Experience in experimental research, including the development of proof-of-concept solutions, is also a significant merit. The applicant must have practical experience in simulations, antenna technology, IRS, and security testing, as well as expertise in blockchain-based trust mechanisms and secure data sharing. Furthermore, experience with security issues related to wireless power transfer is required. The applicant should have a strong publication record in international journals and conferences, as well as solid programming skills in Python and MATLAB.

Personal Qualities

The position requires good collaboration skills and flexibility, as well as the ability to work independently and conduct research proactively. The applicant should possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as excellent proficiency in English, both spoken and written.

Other Assessment Criteria

The applicant should be able to communicate research results to both academic and non-academic audiences. Experience working in international research environments is considered advantageous.

Employment and Start Date

The position is a permanent full-time employment with a start date according to agreement.
